Dr. Braverman closed Bayside
Hi I've never posted here before but may be joining you ladies in the near future. I just called Dr. Braverman's LI office to ask about his hours in Bayside and was told he closed that office I am so upset. I have heard amazing things about him and was so excited that he had offices so close to my home. I live in Queens and work in Manhattan so for me to travel often to Woodbury would be super hard. I thought it would be perfect that he was in Bayside
Does anyone have a Queens RE they'd recommend? If not, do you think it's worth the stress of getting to Woodbury to see him? I most likely have endometriosis (will know soon) and an LPD so I don't know what sort of visits and how often that requires.

Why not go to an RE in Manhattan?
I went to RMA of NY on 60th and Madison and have one DC and another on the way thanks to them!

Re: Dr. Braverman closed Bayside
He might be in Manhattan one day a week at American Fertility. I'd call back and ask the staff.

I just called and asked and he only does consults every other Tuesday in Manhattan, and then you'd have to go to Woodbury to see him.

Honestly, you could travel to woodbury. Its only 2wks you'd be crazy with office visits. I travel from eastern long island into NYC for my RE. If I'd have done that sooner, my life might be different now. But, I, instead, went for local RE and wasted a year and possibly my fertility. You need to go to a good RE and Braverman is that. Its worth the hassle.

That's what I keep thinking. Why waste time with someone else and end up there in the end, a year later. My only concern is work and being able to take time off but I guess that's something I'll just have to deal with. Who,. if you don't mind me asking is your doctor in NYC?

Re: Dr. Braverman closed Bayside
I used RMA as well.
I think it is VERY important where your RE is located if you work (esp in the AM).
If you are just starting out, you are going to need bloodwork, exams, prelim stuff, IUIs (that involve blood work and multiple monitoring visits esp w injections), possibly IVF requires a SOLID 2 weeks of appointments almost every day.
Most places I called had monitoring hours only in the AM (ie: 7:30-9:30).
It's harder to swing with work (if you start early) than you may think.
Use who you think will work, but keep in mind your ability to go to work.

That is exactly why I'm so torn. I have heard that the visits are very frequent so you should have a doctor near home or work. When Braverman was in Bayside it would have been ideal since I could go there in the AM and then get on the LIRR to go to work. I am a bit flexible with work and can come in anytime between 9 and 10am but not really much past that.. so driving to Woodbury and then getting into the city just won't work. But then again I don't want to go to just anyone. I was hoping for Queens but I think I will have to look into all the city doctors you girls have recommended.

Re: Dr. Braverman closed Bayside
Call him and set up a phone consultation...he will do this for you. And then discuss all your timing issues/concerns and see what he can suggest. He may be able to have you monitored at American Fertility in NYC while still running the show from Woodbury.

I guess that's an option too, although would I really get the care that he has to offer if I never see him? I guess I should just call him and discuss it with him. Thanks for the suggestion!

Well, yes you will get the care b/c even if he didn't see you each and every time, he would be dictating the protocol and that is where the success lies. Likewise, if you are doing IVF he does not do the ER or transfers anyway. Plus you can meet with him for consults and what not on Saturdays so if you wanted to/needed to see him face to face that can be done. He is VERY accomodating.

Re: Dr. Braverman closed Bayside
My RE is in Flushing, Dr. Tony Tsai, he also has an office in Chelsea and is the director of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at New York Hospital Queens (Booth Memorial). I've been going to him since this September. I was seeing another RE, who saw me as a GYN patient, in Manhattan; he participates with Lenox Hill, but I was not happy with his approach, so my GYN referred me to Dr. Tsai. Within one month he did more than what the other doctor had done in the time I had been consulting with him. I am happy with his approach and as far as treatment, his fees are not as much as others and that is important for me, as my insurance does not cover anything as far as infertility treatments are concerned. His office in Flushing is at: 42-31 Colden Street Room 202 Flushing, NY 11355 718-261-9068 You can FM me if you have any questions.

Re: Dr. Braverman closed Bayside
I just met with Dr. B TODAY in his NYC office for the first time after have my second miscarriage.
I saw him in NYC this afternoon. He is starting to see patients on Tues btwn 2-4 not sure if it is going to be every week or every other.
I needed to have a lot of bloodwork done to see what is causing the miscarriages. So he is just giving me a script and I go to Quest Diagnostic on Day 3 of my cycle. Then on the weekend I am going to Woodbury to have a 1 test done on a Saturday.
I live in NYC and wanted to def try Dr Braverman. I figured I won't be traveling that frequently to LI, since I am just hoping to find out what is wrong that is causing the miscarriages and can get treatment. But I do think they do IVF & IUI at that same office for American Fertility.
ALso, I know Dr B mentioned today they should have a lab or something up and running in a month or so in the city. Not sure if it was a Lab, or maybe some teting available in NYC.
It wouldn't hurt to email him and ask how it would work for you. I am not sure how frequently you will need to be seen for your endometriosis. & LPD
Maybe if he realizes there are more patients in the city he will be more accessible.
I can tell you today my appt went so well! He went through every possible reason I am having miscarriages and reviewed in detail every test he would perform. He was very funny too & spent about an 1hr with me.
He certainly seems as great as the girls on this board have said.
P.S. He is a little Doogie Howser. He graduated HS at 14 and Graduated NYU at 17. ( the youngest college graduate there) MY mom did research and found this out. LOL

Re: Dr. Braverman closed Bayside
Awh... I can certainly relate.
I live in Bayside and was WAITING for his Bayside office hours. (I guess they're not coming!)
I had another RE that was closer to home, Dr. Rosenfeld @ North Shore in Manhasset. While I have nothing bad to say, I didn't feel I was getting the same treatment I am getting w/ Dr. B. It is a schlep, but it's not as bad as it seems.
I almost went to Dr. Kofinas in Brooklyn. I near fainted thinking of what it would be like getting to appointments. When discussing this w/ my chiropractor who knows Dr. Kofinas, he said Dr. Kofinas has patients who travel from Greece and camp out until they get pregnant.
I think Baseball Widow had a great suggestion... discuss with Dr. B your issues and see what he can offer you. He's so willing to work with his patients, I'm sure he can work something out with you. If it's not in the morning, not sure that maybe leaving work early here and there is an option for you. ?
Best of luck to you!

Re: Dr. Braverman closed Bayside
Thanks Athee, I will have to look into that group to see if that would work.
Bride07 thanks so much for all the info! It's reassuring hearing that there really is a way to do this, as Baseballwidow had suggested all along. I don't mind going to him in Woodbury on Saturdays, it's weekdays that are the issue. I am waiting to hear back from my OBGYN before I contact any RE but knowing all this I will definitely contact Dr. B. Sounds like he is flexible and there is a chance I can go to him without schleping to Woodbury. Lots of luck to you in finding your answers! Oh and I love the Doogie reference lol.. that great!

Re: Dr. Braverman closed Bayside
Thank you Phoebee.. I think I will be contacting Dr. B after all as you've all suggested. From what everyone has said it sounds like he really is flexible and I can work something out. I can definitely leave early here and there if it's required. I guess I just panicked because when I saw Dr. B's Bayside address listed with my insurance company I thought how perfect, but then I found out there was no Bayside office. I think it will definitely work out after all.
Thank you all for all of your information and tips. I am so new to this that any guidance is greatly appreciated. Good luck to you all!

Re: Dr. Braverman closed Bayside
I also live in Queens and was hoping to see Dr Braverman in Bayside. I considered the traveling to Woodbury also but decided that at this point, anything and everything is worth it to get some answers and prevent this from happening again. (Ive had 2 losses)
I just called this morning and made an appointment for next Tuesday. Based on what everyone on this site has said about him, I definitely think its worth it. Good luck!!

Re: Dr. Braverman closed Bayside
I live in LI and work in NYC and I will be going to him and seeing him in LI. I will get there for the first appt and then go to work. It's a short time and I think it's totally worth it.
Also you will most likely not go in everyday. I did two IVF cycles and I went in for monitoring a total of 5 times in two weeks. It could be a little more but in the beginning it won't be every day.
