Double or single stroller for 5yo and 7yo at Disney?

Kids are 2 weeks shy of being 5yo and 7yo. We leave for Disney tomorrow. I was planning to take our umbrella stroller only but now considering the double stroller.

Problem is that DH will be at a conference for part of the time so I will be stuck pushing the double city mini with 2 kids in it. I don't know if I will be able to push around 100+ pounds all day.

Would you take the single or double?

We are staying at Polynesian so we will be on the monorail/boat.

I feel like if we don't take the double, we will once again miss seeing evening shows, parades and fireworks. We never ever go back to MK at night.

7 is old enough to walk, so I would bring single for sure! You can watch fireworks from the beach at the poly if that's a concern. They pipe the music in also

I went to Disney in Sept and I have a 5 yo DS and a 7 yo DD. I got a double stroller. It was a god send. The 7 yo wanted it just as much as the 5 yo. I think it cost $100 for the week and it was well worth it!

I do think my 7yo will want to sit in the stroller. The problem is that I don't think that I can push 100 lbs. I only weigh 125 pounds! I would absolutely take it if DH was pushing. haha

DH thinks we should not take any stroller at all, which is totally out of the question.

Seriously, don't take a stroller.
Kids will fight over the seat if you bring single & I can't even imagine my 7 year old niece in a stroller.
Take breaks.

We just got back from Disney although we had a 2 and 5 year old. The double stroller is worth every penny! Not just for the convenience of sitting but the storage of "junk" (snacks, drinks, souvenirs, etc) and keeping them together. The crowds can get intense and I'd be afraid of losing one of them. Together my kids weight about 85 pounds and I had no trouble pushing the Citi Mini Double (we rented ours from Kingdom Strollers and they were fabulous!).

Double for sure. I think it's so easy to push that thing, you can definitely handle it.

I think that depends on your kids. I took mine to Disney at 5 & 8. We did not bring a stoller. At that point my 5 year old hadn't ridden in a stroller in at least a year so I didn't even consider it. We did fine. We took breaks every once in a while on a bench to rest their feet & have some water.

If your little ones still frequently use a stroller, then test the double at home & see if it's too much for you to push. If it is, go with the single.

I would go with the double - especially since you are doing it alone. It's an easy way to keep both of them together at the same time.

If there are points where it's too hard to push - just ask them to get out and walk.

I am about the same weight and my kids are roughly the same weight and the double city stroller that we rented was very easy to push. I wouldn't rule it out!

We recently brought our 5 & 7 year olds and used a double umbrella stroller. Light weight, and definitely needed.

Agree Agree AGREE!!!!

I had a 4 & 7 year old... Started our trip with a single and switched it to a double mid-trip. There is an obscene amount of walking involved. Taking turns just wasn't working so we had to get the double. Like the pp, I rented a citi mini double and had no trouble fitting them both. Kingdom strollers I hear are excellent, but I highly recommend Magic Strollers. I had a great experience with them.

Trust me on the double. It is so worth it.

Double for sure! But tell the 7 yr old to walk during the day and only sit when hes reallyyyy tired like by end of day. That should make it easier for you to push all day but then give the older one a place to sit when needed.

We ended up taking the double and I made my older DS walk most of the time. The double stroller came in very handy in the evening. Boys were able to sit in the stroller with a perfect view while waiting for the electrical parade at MK. They were very comfortable.

DH pushed when he was with us in the parks and it really wasn't bad pushing the double. I made both kids get off when pushing up the ramp to the monorail.
