I highly recommend babycenter...they have tons of info. But always check with your Dr on meds cause each Dr will allow different things.

DON'T get bogged down in all the do's and don't's. There are very few that you really CAN'T do at least in moderation.
DO follow common sense. Don't bungee jump. Don't injest anything that is considered toxic. Do keep hydrated and drink a ton of water.
Just trust your doctor, trust your gut, and do whats best for YOU, and don't listen to people who will tell you how to live your life if it differs from your own common sense.

Best advice ever I guess I will have to cancel that bungee jumping adventure I had planned this weekend

Get the book "Your Pregnancy week by week" and read. That is what I did. It gives you a break down of what is going on with your body weekly and tips.
Go to babycenter.com, search old theads on LIF about your questions and try not to stress out about every little aspect of your pregnancy. Women have been having babies for millions of yaers.
Also, please remember LIF members are not your DR. Talk to your doctor and other women in your family that have had babies. LIF is a support system but isn't the only information on pregnancy out there.

This! Ultimately you have to do what you are comfortable with. Avoid the obvious no nos. Take your prenatals. Eat heathfully. And if you have any concerns that something is a no no skip it and ask your Dr when you get a chance.

Absolutely, this! Stay healthy, excercise, eat right, drink lots of water, take your prenatals, rest and listen to your body.. if you feel something is off, ask your dr.. Google is not a medical expert

Take good care of your vaj area. It gets hot & moist down there and prone to yeast infections and chaffing.
Eating small meals and snacks helps with nausea.
Watermelons are awesome for hydration and ms :)
Ginger is a nice alternative to tums on some days.
ETA: I also noticed that when I don't drink water, I get bad cramps. So, If you're cramping, try drinking water and walk it off!

ITA!
Right now, I'm just trying to keep myself hydrated with as little nausea as possible and use my common sense (no smoking, alcohol, raw fish, soft cheeses.) and follow my dr's orders. Right now I'm not allowed to exercise.

I have to disagree. That book is terrifying! Every week they tell you what's going on with you and your baby, and then at the end of each one, they give you the scariest, worst possible scenario. It's like: You might be feeling well this week but should know that there's a completely rare complication that might arise, which could kill you or cause your baby to have eighteen fingers on each hand. Talk to your doctor if you think you have these symptoms.
As for Do's and Don'ts... my OB never gave me one. Except to keep hydrated. Never told me what meds or foods to avoid, and whenever I asked if I could do something (ab exercises, dye my hair, take Claritin), he'd always shrug and say "sure, why not?"

I agree with PP. When you go to Dr. ask questions bc they don't volunteer that much info. Except for one thing...my PA stressed that I should not eat hotdogs and if I did crave it, to buy the nitrate free dogs.
ETA: That did not stop me from eating 3 during my 1st tri.

THIS!!! Thank you, voice of reason! Pregnancy is NOT an exercise in overly cautious and obsessive paranoia.

I have to agree - those books are informative, but you HAVE to skip over the 'things that might go wrong' areas. Even my Dr said "Dont read those parts." You will drive yourself nuts with worry.

I hear you on that, I was in same boat. For first trimester, I was so scared that something was going to go wrong at any second. Once I hit the second trimester, my anxiety definitely eased up and I was able to 'enjoy' the pregnancy a lot more. Hitting the milestones of 23 weeks (age of viability) and feeling him kicking (recently) were a HUGE deal to me. Now at 25 weeks, I feel like the pressure is off and I am out of the woods. I think its totally normal to be worried after a mc- but don't let it consume you. Every time I had an ache or pain in the 1st tri, my poor DH would PANIC and think I was having another mc. I guess its just something that is always in the back of your mind once you experience it. Just remember that your body CAN do this- and WILL continue to create that baby- regardless of past experience. And regarding the baby books- take them ALL with a grain of salt. I have What to expect, week by week and all those- not a huge fan- but I am partial to Girlfriends guide, Pregnancy sucks & Baby 411. They aren't so 'the sky is falling'. To each their own. Best of luck!
