Dormer Prices
In the next 5-10 years, DH and I plan on dormering our cape. We would like to expand the front and back (full dormer) and also expand over our attached garage. I have seen houses like this in other neighborhoods so I know it's possible.
Ultimately, we would like to add 3 bed/2 bath upstairs. Has anyone done anything like this? Dare I ask, how much this costs? (Feel free to FM, if you like).
TIA !

Re: Dormer Prices
I would say you're looking at a minimum of $100K for that...

Re: Dormer Prices
We recently dormered and when all was said and done it cost just under $100,000 but that was including EVERYTHING. all fixtures, hardwood floors, and central air. We got an incredible deal.

Re: Dormer Prices
we are in the middle of our dormer/extension.
we have a levitt cape and just dormered the top right bedroom then extended over the garage that we just added. so that made 2 huge bedrooms, then added a bathroom up there. we left the room on the left of the stairs because the slants are not really that bad.. and its still a good size bedroom. people were amazed at how much more space you get out of what we did.
we paid just under 100K.. and that included a garage.

Deanna - did you use Sierra? I'd love to see pics!
We only half-dormed (we had a rear dormered already). I believe we spent about $75K on the project - front dormer, and half porch. This was by far the cheapest quote we got - others wanted well over $100K - for just a front dormer!!

yup, we used Sierra.. they gave us the best price.. 20K under everyoen else .. and i knew they were reliable so we didnt hesitate. i will post pics soon.. the sheetrock is going up next week so as soon as the "walls" go up you can see the rooms. i do have a pic of the outside though .. still not completely done.. just odds and ends
this pic is not so good.. from my cell phone. its a sage color .. and its the cedar shakes

Re: Dormer Prices
Not a dormer but, we are adding two rooms including a master suite with own bathroom and we've been hearing 50k to 100k. It varies so much.
The suspense of what we'll end up with is killing me and I have to wait to decide on a contractor because the TOB wants it listed on the permit appli.

Re: Dormer Prices
I wanted to say, you're probably looking at $125-150K for that kind of project.
We just added one child's room and made our bedroom bigger. 3 beds/2 baths I'm sure would be upwards of $100K.

Re: Dormer Prices
I think awhile back someone posted it comes out to be about $150 per sq. ft on average. That could have changed by now though.
