Dont know where to start
My Dh was diagnosed with testical cancer back in Nov. He will have to go for another surgery this month that might make him become sterial. We are banking sperm and will have to I guess have invitro to have kids if this happens. I was wondering if you ladies had any advice for me on where to start with this? any doctor recommendations or steps i should follow? Can you maybe share the processes of all this? im a little sscared about having to take this road so anything you ladies can offer it would mean so much!!
Thanks!
Tara

Re: Dont know where to start
Hope your DH is well. If his sperm has no issues now, I am sure it's ok to freeze it and use it later. When you two are ready we'll all be here for you!

I am sorry I don't have advice, but the key is to try and stay strong. Everything will work itself out with time. and praying your husbands surgery goes well and he is clear of cancer..

Re: Dont know where to start
I'm sorry that you two are going thru this. I know sperm can be frozen and stored for quite some time. My cousin went thru IVF, had twin boys, and 3 or 5 years later went thru IVF again. The day she was there her husband's sample produced "nothing" and she told the drs she wasn't leaving until something was done. They got her husband's sample from the freezer from the same time her 1st children were born- so their 3rd is actually chronologically the same age as their 1st 2. Good luck to you!

Re: Dont know where to start
First of all I am sorry that you are going through this stressful time but it is great that the doctors are being pro-active in storing sperm. Just make sure you are keeping it in a reputable place in case you have to use it in the future.
It might not be a bad idea to meet with an RE so they can help you prepare for what you may need in the future.
Good luck to you both and for your husband's health!

Re: Dont know where to start
just wanted to say that I am sorry to hear about your dh. My BF fiance had testicular cancer and he is doing great now. He had surgery and Chemo but he is very healthy now. They had also frozen his sperm just in case
best of luck

Re: Dont know where to start
I think freezing samples (I would insist on mutliples) is the best thing you can do. Then focus on DH getting healthy.
