Donnie and Marie Osmond's Father Dies
"The Insider" breaks news that Donnie and Marie Osmond's father George has died. The Osmond family patriarch passed away early Tuesday morning. He was 90.
Donny was in the "Entertainment Tonight" studios preparing for tonight's segment when he found out the sad news and it was just yesterday Donny spoke with ET's Mary Hart about his frail father and his recent visit with him.
"I walk in and he just lights up and he says, 'Donny...I love you.' He says, 'I love you.' He doesn't say much, but when he saw me and said, 'Donny I love you'...my 90-year-old dad...who can't do much, but when he says, 'I love you,' that's all he needs to do."
The family was planning to appear on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" Friday and Donny was bursting with pride talking to Mary about his famous clan being honored.
"I don't want people to think we're patting ourselves on the back, but let's call it the way it is," he told Mary. "We stuck together. Stayed together as a family. My hats off to my parents."
Donny and Marie's mother Olive died three years ago at the age of 79.
