Donating stuffed animals
So I'm still going through a whole bunch of boxes that we haven't opened since we moved last yr and I found sooo many stuffed animals and toys that are still in excellent condition, I hate getting rid of any toys that my kids love (blame it to Toy Story!), so I was doing a lot of thinking and I feel that it'd be a great cause donating them to St Jude's Children's Hospital but I have no idea what exactly do or who I have to contact, anybody has ever done this before?

Donating stuffed animals
I have worked with a cancer organization before and places like St. Jude's are very strict about item donations due to their patients being immune compromised. I know Stony Brook Children's Cancer Center could not even take donated school supplies for this reason.
If they still have tags or are brand new, I would contact Birthday Wishes. They throw birthday parties for children in homeless shelters.

Donating stuffed animals
If you're in any Facebook groups, I know some teachers like to take them for prizes.

I used to work for a Children's hospital and no hospital will take them. Stuffed animals cannot be sanitized and are full of germs within minutes. I would try a battered women's shelter.

Re: Donating stuffed animals
As others have mentioned, hospitals do not take stuffed animals, or used items at all I'd think. I don't think anyone really takes stuffed animals. Too hard to guarantee they are clean and free from bed bugs/mites/fleas, etc. Several places you can donate toys though. Preschoools, libraries, women's shelters, soup kitchen, there are several homes on LI for young single mothers that I'm sure could use them.

Thank u everyone! It sucks that St Jude's won't take them cause I feel these toys can bring a bit of happiness to many kids but I totally understand the reasons why they don't take these donations. I've heard there are places that end up throwing away donation toys or burning them because ppl keep sending them, they can't distribute them, etc. I'd hate if this happens to the toys I wanna donate, so I feel that I need to do a lot of homework of any possible place.

As I said, I worked for a Children's Hospital....I can't tell you how many packed shed out back of BRAND NEW TOYS there were that never got used, there was definitely no room for used toys. Your best bet is to toss them or sell them at a a garage sale if you can't find a shelter or someplace like that that will take them.

Re: Donating stuffed animals
Try animal shelters. I donated some to a local shelter and as long as they didnt have anything inside (bells...) they took them for the animals to play with.

This.
I donate all of my kids toys that they don't play with to Big Brothers Big Sisters and they bring it to Savers. They will pick it up from your house.

So Savers will buy the items from BBBS at whatever amount they want and then resell the items at a higher value to regular customers?

No, the Savers store takes the donations (whether you drop them directy at the Savers store yourself or you give them to BBBS) and sells them in their retail store and whatever money they make goes to the BBBS charity.

Once they sell the items, do they give BBBS the full profit or just a percentage?

Not sure. I am just glad to get the shit out of my house so I don't care if they burn it to be honest.
But you can probably find out online how much of the money goes to the charity. Savers is run by the charity itself so I am sure it all goes there.

Lolol! I'm a weirdo, I'd actually feel bad if they throw the toys away. I briefly scanned their website and didn't see anything about how much they give BBBS, I'll look more into it, thanks!

I'd have a yard sale and donate 100% of your profit to whatever charity you want.

I don't think they throw them away- i think they do try to sell them in their second hand store. Where the money goes is another story

Well I can't speak to what they do now, but when I was there they just sat out in the back in sheds for years...every so often we would go in and take something new out for the kids. But I can't tell you the over abundance there was.

Re: Donating stuffed animals
Maybe try Pronto in Brentwood. Not sure if they take them, but worth a call.
If they are nicer ones you could keep and save and you have the room, get a bean bag chair cover that you fill with stuffed animals. I bought one on Amazon, and put ALL of my DD's stuffed animals in there. It's in her room, and she sits on it. It's HUGE, but functional .
