Donating leftover baked goods?
Does anyone know of a soup kitchen or something similar where one can donate leftover food that might be open? We hosted Christmas and then a brunch the next day so we had a TON of leftover stuff but some of it was used (like a slice taken out of a pie). Does anyone know where I could bring something like that?
I've already brought in a ton to work but I'd rather donate it. Obviously I know there are food safety issues with it being open and maybe no one would take it, but if there is, I'd love to know about it.
If I was in NYC I would give it to the people who ask for change in the subway but there's no one like that anywhere I go. In fact,if you know someone who hangs around looking for food, I'd be happy to give it to them! There used to be a guy who stood near the service area on my parents' exit but he hasn't been there in more than a year.

I know of a couple in Shirley that are living out of their car at the train station. I would also try a church.

For the firefighters? I don't know any firefighter who would take opened food from someone they didn't know.

One of my neighbors is a firefighter and said they get tons of stuff after people have parties on the holidays and Superbowl.

United Methodist Church in Bay Shore has a soup kitchen. I donate food there. St. Patricks also has one.

IDK - maybe it's different down here - I don't think my DH or his fellow firefighters would touch anything someone they didn't know dropped off.
