Donating Breast milk?
So my DD can no longer drink my BM as per her PED cause of reflux and being lactose intolerant
I've been pumping for 2 weeks and already have a crazy amount of frozen BM and now have no baby to give it to.
My MIL told me to donate it to a hospital?!?!? I've never heard of such a thing. Is that true? Can you do that? She said something about feeding sick babies with it? (She's weird if this isn't correct)
I'm so upset about throwing it away. There's nothing I can do with it huh?

Re: Donating Breast milk?
You can most definitely donate what you have.
I would do a search (google) as I don't have any suggestions in front of me right now.
I know recently a mom right here on LIF donated all her milk. I just can't remember who

Re: Donating Breast milk?
You can actually look into changing your diet to help your baby and not stop BFing. Are you sure you NEED to stop? You may be able to continue but have a doctor (again, not sure) that does not know about helping you continue BFing or deem it very important.
More info Kelly Mom site- great refrence site
here is the site for donation of breast milk BM donation It is a wonderful gift but there is a lot of required testing. You can contact them.

Re: Donating Breast milk?
I tried to donate my frozen breastmilk when my dd was switched to Neocate...none of the agencies I contacted would take it because I was taking the minipill and had used Mother's Milk Tea...I ended up throwing well over 200 ounces away because I couldn't find someone to take it Good luck!

Re: Donating Breast milk?
Oh wow you really can donate your milk! So my MIL isn't crazy lol
I have to stop because my dd is lactose intolerant and my milk doesn't sit right with her. she throws it all up and won't keep it down
I will def be looking into donating it! I'm so happy I'll be able to give it to a baby who will need it!! I wasn't on any meds while pumping so hopefully they will take my milk.
Thank you so much for all the replies and helpful info!!!
