Dog Protective Around SO?
I'm 33 weeks and the last few weeks we've been noticing that when my SO isn't around... My doggie follows me around but not obsessively. When my SO is home, my dog is stuck to me like glue.. He will be passed out sleeping and wake up immediately if I move to another room. At first it was cute, but now it almost seems like an obsession that is coming out more when my SO is home... Anyone experience this?

Re: Dog Protective Around SO?
Not quite to that degree but yes, Ozzie has become generally more protective/following me around, and aside from his initial hello to DH he tends to sit by me/on me when DH is home. He never gets aggressive with DH or tries to keep him away from me, but he is 100% becoming more protective. If your dog starts to exhibit any signs of dominance or aggression against your SO I would call a trainer immediately, because it will get worse when baby comes. However, if the dog is simply sticking to you like glue but is still good-natured, I wouldn't worry about it too much. If it's something you want to discourage, try a firm STAY when you leave the room and enforce it. Remind him who is in charge, because what's happening is he feels it is his job right now to watch over you - if you exert your dominance he will remember that you are the leader, not him.

Re: Dog Protective Around SO?
Charlotte is like this - my older girl, I have two dogs. The younger one doesn't have a care in the world lol. But recently the alarm people came to install a security system and Char positioned herself in between me and them the entire time and if they came close to me she kind of moaned/groaned in annoyance... She also follows me around, prefers to lay across my lap/belly, and sleeps tucked next to my belly at night lol.
