Does your OB practice do ultrasounds? POLL

My new practice doesn't and I feel like it's such a waste of time having to schedule office visits, then ultrasounds at separate locations! :P

How many ultrasounds did you have to do during your pregnancy? I'm just wondering if this is going to work...

I'm 14w5d and I've had 2 so far - 1st appt. and NT Scan. I go for another (early anatomy) in 2 weeks. If baby doesn't cooperate, I'll go back around 20 weeks. I have GD so I'm sure they'll be doing possibly weekly growth sonos after a certain point. So it can be a lot.

The big sonos (NT and anatomy) are done at my hospital but the other regular sonos are done by my ob in the office

I had my first 2 sonos done at my OB/GYN at 7 and 11 weeks. All my other ones have been at the hospital. Not exactly sure why it is done this way, I'm thinking because my OB/GYN doesn't have a machine that is as "good" as the hospital's.

I see a midwife and she doesn't do US in the office. She does two-8 weeks and 20 weeks. She said maybe at the end she might order one depending on how its going, how late I go, etc.

I am doing the anatomy scan at the hospital. My appts are more me asking questions, she talks to me, feels my belly, does my bp and listens to the hb. But I am low-risk, etc.

I think some offices don't do the 20 week anatomy scan because they do not have a radiologist in their office. My office has a radiologist on staff to do them.

My office does it and I have had a lot of ultrasounds but I had a couple things they wanted to monitor and plus I think they sonogram happy

My office does them there at 8, 12-14, 20, 32 and 40 weeks.

My dr does them at every visit. I also had to go to the hosp for the nt scan, anatomy scan, 24 week, 28 week 32 week and every week after 36. The reason being is they have 4d equip and I am advanced manteral age. I just make my appts back to back. The good part is my lo has a huge photo album already.

Yes and no...my major NT scan isn't done at their office, but the 20 week scan and my additional growth sonos are done right at the office.

Yes, mine does. Madonna (high risk) has a satelite location in his office which works out great. All my appointments are done in one spot.

Yes all of them including the NT and anatomy.

Yup, my OB has an in-house sono tech. They did them at 8.5, 10.5, and 12 weeks. They didn't do one at 16 weeks, but I'm scheduled for my anatomy scan next week at 20.5 weeks.

my OB did the "smaller" ones in office - but the big ones like the 12 & 20 weeks (and my past due baby NST) needed to be done at the hospital

There is an office across the hall from my OB's office that does the more detailed scans (NT, anatomy, etc.) but my OB also has the ability to do ultrasounds in her office. The in office equipment is not as fancy as the equipment in the ultrasound office. I had my NT scan on a day that I did not see my OB but I met with a genetic counselor. My anatomy scan will be done immediately before my next appointment with my OB.

My OB office has a few sono techs and ultrasound rooms. When a week comes up where I need a sono, I go to the ultrasound room, have my ultrasound and then wait to be called into the doctors office. It's SO convenient. I don't remember how many sonos I had with DD, so far in this pregnancy I have only had one, internal done by my OB.

My original practice did not and although i switched for other reasons it was a consideration and I only wanted practices that had one on site.

The practice that ultimately delivered my DS had a sono on site, but still sent you to a special center for the big diagnostic sonos at 12, 16 and 20 weeks. But they did my initial new patient sono in the office and they said if I ever had a scare they kept emergency slots open so I could come in to the office for a sono instead of going to the ER. That was important to me. That practice is in the city and I recently found a new doctor on LI because we would like to deliver future children on LI now that we moved out of the city. The practice I chose has sonos on site as well, although I think you do the big diagnostic sonos at the hospital.

My practice DOES do them but the wait for them was always sooo long..my SIL had to go to the hospital but was in and out so I dont know which is better...

They have the equipment, but I only received my initial sono there to confirm the pregnancy.

Otherwise I have to go to the women's health center in the hospital. (I've only had the standard sonos done. I'm not being sent for high-risk or anything along those lines.)


I was able to have my sonos done in the medical group at radiology for previous pregnancies, so I don't know if this women's health center is fairly new and that's why I'm being sent there?

Mine does sonograms but a tech from Madonna prenatal comes in on certain days to do it.

I had all ultrasounds done at my OB office except for the 20 week one. I was also high risk and saw MFM at the hospital and had several done there as well.

I have many because high risk but other people I know that go to my Dr have about five. My Dr does all except the twenty week many Dr visits and sonos are separate days though so even though done in same office I often have to come in two times within week of each other so not much different if coming in to different office
