Thats one thing Dr Brenner is awesome at. Anytime I've called... he knew my full story/meds etc. At first I thoguht it was strange bc it had been months since the last time I met with him. The nurse said he's normally like that though. I have to say he's the first doctor Ive ever experienced that with,

Re: does your doc know you..
i dont think so. when im cycling and have seen him 6 times in 2 or 3 weeks, then yes, he does. since i havent seen him in over a month, although he remembers my basic things when I email him, i cant say he *knows* me.
one time he did shock me when i emailed him about my cyst and he emailed me right back and he remembered what side it was on. But i kinda think that was a random fluke.
i dont think it's very common that docs will remember what meds you're on when you call them.
Why do you say you think youre a forgotten case?

Funny you say this, because I was just saying the opposite to DH He definitely knows my info when I talk to him on the phone, but I think it's because he reviews my file right before calling. I just get the feeling like I'm just one of many cases that he deals with. The nurses on the other hand make me feel like they REALLY know me and my protocol, meds, etc.

Re: does your doc know you..
Idk...I emailed to say about the clot bc hospital wanted to speak with him..and we exchange a couple then asks if they started me on asprin and if I am ok with lovenox????
You put me on these more than a year ago!!!!
I know they have a ton of patients and cannot remember every detail but it is not like I met you yesterday
I think it is just in my head bc the doc at the. Hospital they kept telling me about clots and fertility meds and were surprised I was never told about the relation, and they could not believe that I was on lovenox and not seeing a hemotologist..
I never call unless I have a emergency,I don't email bc I feel like a bother and sometimes I think that makes me forgettable...I don't ask questions, just do what I gotta do and go on....maybe I need to be more assertive
I'm just going crazy bc I am on rest and dh is making me crazy bc he is so mad this happened lol

Re: does your doc know you..
dr. B typically never remembers details about protocols without your chart. if you are very consistent in emailing him or saw him very recently to contacting him then he generally does remember. but its crazy to expect any doctor would without charts in front of them. unless they only have like a dozen patients.

Re: does your doc know you..
My doc definitely doesn't know me. Besides the convenient location it is getting harder to find a positive to RSONY.

Re: does your doc know you..
My RE knows me.
He knows when I will need tissues in his office.
He knows what medications I am on.
He knows he has made a few mistakes, and is nicer now because he learned from them.
He knows that I do not go anywhere -ALONE.
He knows that I email him, "like I am texting" (NO- I will not tell him I hang on to his every word, so I wait patently staring at my phone)
But this whole process.... only the big man up there really knows!!!!!

Yes, he does. When I'm on a break or on BCP, I usually email him with a question of sorts just so that he doesn't forget me too!

Re: does your doc know you..
I see Dr. Brenner, and like Cat, I think he knows me. Maybe he does review my file before I speak to him, but I never walked away feeling like he "forgot" my situation.
That being said - he doesn't email. If Dr. B or whoever your doctor is responds on the fly - he might not be as prepared.

I often have to refresh Dr. B on details about my case. I don't expect him to remember every detail, but I did have one occasion recently where he forgot something pretty significant, and it bothered me, so I understand where you're coming from.

I don't think it's an issue of whether he has every case memorized (it's unlikely that any of them do) but that he didn't take the time to look at your file before he responded with a potential treatment. That would be my issue...because it's haphazard.
I have had experiences like that at RSONY but not with my new doctor. This new guy is always super sincere and knowledgeable...even about things that happened while I was not under his care.

Re: does your doc know you..
My RE at RSofNY definitely knows me...but I also have been there for the last four years . However, I know the feeling you're talking about as I went through that with my OB when I was pregnant with DS. OB actually sent me to the hospital to get a steroid shot. We bumped into him in the elevator as we were leaving and he asked me if I was there for a tour

Re: does your doc know you..
My Doctor knows me....well!! He does each and every u/s and ER as well as ET himself so he can't help but know his patients I'm sure. When I was at another center...I was most definitely just a number...and I hated it!!
