Does your district have nap time in Kindergarten?
Just curious. I was reading something about Huntington and their K program being reduced to half day, and something was mentioned about nap time. I didn't think districts had naps in kindergarten

DS is going to full day K (OMG, it freaks me out even just to write that he is going to be in K next year!  ). Anyway, after lunch and recess, they have a rest time where they can relax and quietly read or play by themselves. It isn't a nap time though, just rest time.

This is pretty much how it is for my DD. They all have rest mats, but I know she has never actually fallen asleep...some do though. My girls are in Catholic school.

We had a teacher come and speak at DD's school earlier this year. She said that they have a 40 minute break all day (full day program) and that 20 mins of that is lunch and 20 mins is recess. Otherwise other than gym 2 times a week - they are at their desks doing classwork. So no naps in our district.

They told me they had a rest time. I don't think it's a "traditional" nap time though. It's a full day.

When I first started teaching kindergarten in the mid/late 90s some k teachers opted to have a "rest" time, most did not. Now no ones does it.

nope, more of a wind down time after lunch where the lights are off and kids are at their tables listening to soft music or a story on tape.
