Does weight have anything to do with delivery?
I never lost the weight from DD1 when I found out I was pg with this one. I got the okay for a VBAC from my doc yesterday. I was talking to my mom about that and mentioned that I had gained 4 lbs (at 17wks).
She said that the more I gain the harder it will be for me to deliver the baby naturally since I was overweight to begin with.
Is there any truth to this?

Re: Does weight have anything to do with delivery?
My OB always told me that the fact that I am small helped me in my delivering my babies as easily as I did.. he said that the bigger you are, the more difficult it is..
I don't know the specifics though.. and I also know of gals who are *bigger* who have had ZERO problems..
so take it with a grain of salt

I was small to begin with but gained 60lbs with my first two kids and delivered them vaginally, and naturally (no epi). When I delivered, I was NOT small

I'm overweight and had a v birth but some trouble with the epi. They said that the bonier ur spine is the easier it is to find the perfect spot.

Re: Does weight have anything to do with delivery?
I was told that it does influence the outcome in some cases. My OB explained that it is harder to get the baby out based upon the fact that there is fatty tissue that is in your pelvic region and lack of stamina in some cases as well. He told me that it increases odds for a C-sections. Doesn't necessarily mean that everytime this will happen but just a risk factor. I was overweight when I got pregnant with DS and gained about 10 lbs with his throughout pregnancy. I was able to deliver him vaginally. I am hoping for the same with this pregancy.
