Does running get any easier?
I work out everyday minus running so I considered myself pretty active UNTIL this weekend when I plugged the treadmill! #1 I get so tired so easily and constantly stopped to walk. #2 my WHOLE body was so sore the next day. I felt so out of shape when I thought I was in pretty good shape! Does it get easier?

Re: Does running get any easier?
yes it does get easier........the more you do it the easier it will be. I hadnt run for a long time and when I started again I couldnt get through 1 mile without stopping to walk and I felt like I was gonna die
but I kept with it and run about 3 miles 5times a week

Re: Does running get any easier?
It does get easier. When I started I had no endurance at all, I could only run about 5 minutes before I had to stop. Little by little I've increased my distance & speed. Just keep at it, your body needs time to get used to it. You'll see a huge difference over time.

Re: Does running get any easier?
Yes definitely!!! Just try and be consistent and don't overwhelm yourself too much. It's a good thing to alternate walking with running when starting out!!!

Yes, I would start off at a brisk walk for three minutes then run for one. Then you can build yourself up run for 3 min walk for one etc. Running can be hard on your body at first but you can build up your stamina through time.

Re: Does running get any easier?
OMG yes!! I don't run on a treadmill, I run outdoors. My first run I almost died. I was out of breath, bored and tired. I couldn't wait for it to be over. Now i wno't even run that route because its too short for me- even after not running all winter.
And I just ran my first race- 4miles!
And I signed up for a half marathon in August
I went from hating it- to loving it!!!

Re: Does running get any easier?
YES! It gets so much easier. It takes a couple of months.
What I did to start was go for as long as I could. Right up off the couch, no training, I could run for 15 minutes (slowly! At like 4.8 mph) without stopping. In 2 or 3 weeks I was running about 20 minutes - still super-slowly. Then I tried to run faster for the 20 minutes, and did intervals of 2 minutes running slowly and one minute faster. Then I went up to 22 minutes, 25 minutes, and so on. Now I can run for just under an hour without stopping. And my 5K time is around 31-34 minutes, depending on how I ate that day and how much sleep I got!
I have to tell you, though: the 3 minutes walking, 1 minute running thing DID NOT WORK for me at all. I felt no sense of accomplishment, and I found it boring. Plus, since I wasn't pushing myself (it starts off so EASY if you're at a healthy weight), I wasn't getting one iota stronger. I've tried running 3 times in my life, and this is the only thing that worked for me. Run as far as you can, as slowly as you need to, 3 times a week, and the next week, run a little farther.
And hey, after 4 months now, I actually kinda like it.

Re: Does running get any easier?
I definitely does. I started a little over a month ago and was SO not a runner and it's gotten a lot easier. You just have to stick with it and be consistent!

Re: Does running get any easier?
Soooo I know it's a little pathetic BUT it really IS getting a little easier the more I do it! I ran 3 minutes without stopping walked for 30 seconds and then ran 5 minutes without stopping after that! I know it's not long but it made me feel pretty good about it!

Re: Does running get any easier?
Yes! You use different muscles to run than you do to do other excersizes so that is why you are sore.
Definitely keep up what you are doing and take walk breaks when needed. This will also help get your heart rate down and regulated. Also dont run every day, let your muscles rest and heal. It will get easier. I used to say I could never run more than a few miles and now I do 10 every weekend!
