Does everyone get a growth sono
Just curious...or was my Level II the last sono if everything goes smoothly from now on????

At my Level II I ask my doc if I get anymore sonos & she said yes, around 32 weeks. I am assuming that is the growth sono.

Not sure. When I first was pregnant I asked the doc how many sonos and she said the first one and the level II. I then elected to have the ultrascreen so that made 3.
The last time I had an appointment she said she wanted me to have another sono at 32w. Based on what she said at the beginning this is not the norm in her practice (unless something changed between then and now) but because I haven't really gained much weight she wants me to have one. So long story short, I have no idea what the norm is. I think everything depends on which doc you go to.

I think it's 50/50.... I have GD, so I'll be getting one at my next appt (36 weeks). But, my impression on this board is that not everyone gets one... I don't know if it's Dr specific, or if generally, when your belly measurements are on target and you don't have other concerns (like GD), you don't get a growth sono.

When I went for my level II... as I was leaving, the tech said, see you at your growth sono.

My previous pregnancy my son was low-birth weight...therefore this time around I've been getting growth scans every month since June...as precaution..in addition...my ob takes a sonogram at every visit...this is also because of age and complications at the start of the pregnancy...
So it depends on the pregnancy..

It is not considered to be a "standard" ultrasound by the American College of obstetrics and gynecology..........
That being said some OB/GYN practices do them on all patients while others won't do them unless your belly is measuring larger than normal or you have GD. The growth sonos also tend to be grossly innacuarate as much as oof by a pound or more!
I would ask your practice what is their policy and go from there!

oh, I mispoke, I forgot that I will be getting 2 or 3 extra sono's in my 3rd trimester, as my PAPP-A number came back a little on the low side. I don't know if that's considered a growth sono or not though.
