Does DS wear a shirt in the pool?
My DS is 9 months old and I took him to the pool today for the first time. He loved it!!! I didn't know if I should keep his shirt on to protect him from the sun even though he got cold when we got out, or take it off while in the pool and then put it on as soon as we got out.
Does your DS wear a t-shirt in the pool? How old is he?

We put him on one of those swim shirts, hes almost 22 months.

What's a rash guard?
DS wears a swim shirt--maybe it's the same thing, don't know. He's very pale, plus he does get cold at times in the pool.

Rash Guard is the same as a swim shirt.
Mine wear them with thier suits.

DS has wears a swim shirt in the pool since he was about 6 months old.. he is now 22 1/2 months old

Most clothing has less than 10 SPF.
I think a plain white t-shirt has about a 3.
It does not provide adequate protection against UVA/UVB rays, the rays that cause skin cancer.
A tan is the same as a burn but a person does not have to have either in order for damage to be done.
Skin cancer is caused by cumulative lifetime exposure. One may have never received a bad burn and still get it.
BTW: Not all sunscreen protects from the full-spectrum of rays... both UVA and UVB... and they are not regulated by the FDA... the companies are free to claim anything they want.
Rash guards are on sale now so you can find one for about $6. or so.
