Does anyone's children sleep in the same bed?

DS is 5 and DD is 2.

There are several morning a week that I find my daughter in bed with my son or my son in my DD crib with her.

I have no idea how to stop it, or should i just let them go.

I know at some point, it’s just gonna be unacceptable.

MY DH and I are also stumped at how they manage to do this several nights a week, with out us hearing them. I even have a gate at my daughter door, so she cant escape, but apparently it doesnt help.

Re: Does anyone's children sleep in the same bed?

My boys are 5 and 3 and don't go into each other's room. If they did I would have no problem with it.
They are just deep sleepers and don't get up in the middle of the night. Once in a while on a weekend we do a sleepover in one of their rooms, but in a sleeping bag bc they move around too much and would wake the other up.

I do have friends who's kids do something similar.
I say let them do it and don't make a thing about it. They love each other and love being together. They're still so young and could do it for years. I understand when she starts developing, but that's not for many years. They're siblings and still little. Be happy they love being together.

ETA - I thought the girl was older, but there's still no issue with it going on now. If they're both happy and sleep well then enjoy the fact they are so close and don't bother you in the middle of the night.

My identical girl twins do this many times a week. I don't understand it but I feel that they will eventually need more room and stop it themselves.

Although I can definitely understand your concern since they are boy and girl siblings, I don't think its a big deal.

My sister used to sleep with me all the time when we were younger. I understand your concern because they are boy/girl but they will eventually grow out of it.

I would leave them be. One day they are going to be fighting all the time and you are going to wish they still slept together and got along.

I used to do that with my brother until Middle School! LOL Just felt comfy there :D No one stopped us. Pretty much I hit puberty and it ended.

It wouldn't bother me at that age. I'd think it's cute, and be happy that they get along and want to be together.

My 2 sleep in the same room. I tried to seperate them & that was a fail.
They are also boy/girl.
They stay in their own beds, but the beds are next to each otherChat Icon

Re: Does anyone's children sleep in the same bed?

There have been many mornings that I've found my girls sleeping in the same bed. They are 4&3 and share a room.
It was to the point where we even pushed their beds together cause that was the only way they'd stay asleep all night.

I would be concerned having my 2 year old walking around and having access to the whole house in the middle of the night while I slept. Can you get rid of the gate and put a child proof cover over her door knob trend keep her door closed?

My boys are 8 and almost 5 and this is a battle in our house. It's actually my older DS who always hates being alone, but now they're both doing it. I swear we should just put them in one room. Chat Icon

I think it's just precious. I'm sure one day, it will stop. So, enjoy the cuteness while you can.

I think it's adorable and would be mean to lock your dd in so she can't get to ds. Maybe you could put a gate somewhere else, so you know she can't get away from the bedrooms etc. We used to have a gate in the hallway so ds could get to the bathroom but not downstairs.

I did the gate with my DD also at that age, but the reason I suggested the child proof knob was that the pp said she was using the gate, but her DD was still getting to her brother's room. I'm assuming that means she can unlock the gate or is climbing over it. I'd put safety 1st over being "mean".

We have 2 gates. The one is her room is just a cheap pressure mounted one that the kids can easily climb over. We also have one at the top of the steps that is much higher and mounted to the wall, that one they are unable to get out of. So I am not too worried of her roaming the house, bc she can really only get into the bedrooms.

My little one is only 7 months so, no.. BUT how friggin adorable.. As long as they are both getting good sleep I wouldn't be concerned at all. I think it Is really cute and not at all inappropriate- If they were doing it as teenagers maybe a bit weird but for now ... I love it. My older DD , climbs into our bed every night -- cant wait for my little one to get a bit older, maybe she will stop climbing into our bed and will sleep next to her sister!!!
