Does anyone's baby need to be constantly swaddled to sleep even for naps?
My DS WILL NOT sleep unless he is swaddled that includes naps also. He will fall asleep in my arms without the swaddle but once I put him down he is up and flailing like crazy and will not settle down for nothing.
Is this normal? I feel like that is kinda weird. I dont get it.

Yes- thats how both my babies needed to sleep in the first few months.

DD was swaddled for naps and nighttime till she was 5 months old.
ETA: She NEEDED to be swaddled in order to sleep. Not just some crazy preference of mine.

My DD is 4.5 months old and still needs to be swaddled for naps and bedtime. We do swaddle arms out though.
It's frustrating to me right now because I don't think her daycare is swaddling her because her naps are only 30 minutes long there, as opposed to 3 hours at home. Last night we picked her up from daycare at 5, her last nap ended at 2:10 (they put her down at 1:40). She is usually down for 3 -3.5 hour nap at that time when at home. Anyway, she was a MONSTER by the time we got home because she was SO overtired. I didn't want to put her in her crib for a nap because it was already 5:45 and her bedtime is usually 7:30. She will usually take a nice cat nap in the swing but because she was so overtired she would not sleep there.
As it was, she was up twice last night when she has been STTN since 8 weeks old and we NEVER hear a peep out of her once she is down for the night.
Sorry, to hijack, just frustrated!

Kaydyn was swaddled for naps until 5 months. Otherwise she would wake herself up constantly b/c her arms and legs would be flailing all over the place.

We swaddled arms in until 5 months for naps when we stopped swaddling for naps.
We stopped swaddling for bedtime at 6 months b/c she was breaking out of it almost every night.

Caden HAD to be swaddled....His arms swaddled tight to his body. He had such a strong startle reflex that he would constantly wake himself up.
I remember questioning if this was normal b/c my older girls werent like this as infants. DH and I used to talk about it all the time. I pointed out to him that at 39 years old DH still did that jumpy sleep thing when he was falling asleep and did it through the course of the night too. (more so than anyone I know)...maybe it's genetic...

yes, DS was swaddles until he was about 4 months old for naps and bedtime. he just slept better that way.
