When Megan cant do something right away, she gets so frustrated and wont do it AT ALL. She has been like this since she was a baby. Everything learned in her own time in her own way. It doesnt matter how I approach it, she learns it when shes ready.

Now shes so frustrated with writing. They are teaching her in class and now shes crying every day because she doesnt know how to write all her letters, but she wont practice with me because it makes her so frustrated. Its like a vicious cycle. I dont know what to do about it.

Now she is hating school agian because shes so upset about writing. Any ideas? Anyone else go through the same thing with their kids?

I don't have to tell you that Lauren is the same way. It's her way or the highway Chat Icon My mom found a large laminated chart of the alphabet that shows both capital and lowercase letters. I got her a dry erase marker to practice tracing over the letters on it. I think it's an easier approach than the lined white board I was giving her to copy her name (I would print her name on the first line and ask her to print her name below).

My DS is the same way with learning his sight words. I write them on the index cards and some he gets right away and others it seems we go over 100 times and he still doesn't get it. He gets very frustrated and we just stick with it. I remind him he's getting new words next week and if he doesn't know these it will be harder next week because he'll have even more to learn.
