does anyone re-upholster?
not professionally, but personally?
I found a great club chair and ottoman on craigs list for 40.00. came from a really clean house, barely used..I wanted one for the nursery, but they were pricing at over 700.00
I have no idea where to start with upholstery..is it something you think I could just wing with fabric and a staple gun?
TIA

I re upholstered the stools in our kitchen. It took more patience than skill. All I needed was a staple gun.

Most definitley (though I've never done it). They do this on HGTV all the time. Check out the diy website and HGTVs website - there has to be some how-to info on either or both sites.
Make sure to post before and afters!
Another alternative would be to check out having it professionally done...being that you saved a fortune by buying used. Maybe a student or someone who does tailoring on the side could do it for $100?

Re: does anyone re-upholster?
thanks guys!! DH doesn't think I can do it, he thinks we can find someone. But for the price, imagine if I have a hidden talent for it! i would finally be furnished.

Re: does anyone re-upholster?
For the price, I would totally try it out myself. What's the worst that could happen - you have to take it somewhere to be fixed? I think it's all about having patience...batting, fabric, staple gun and the trim (to hide the staples ).
Post pics!!

Re: does anyone re-upholster?
I would love to learn how to do it.
I have some old, mismatched pieces with good bones. I could get all "new" living room furniture for just the price of the fabric.
