Does anyone make their own salad dressing?
I'm in need of some recipes please, I am SOOOOO bored with my Good Seasons balsamic vinaigrette. I can only do oil-based dressings because of DS's allergies (I'm BFing). Does anyone have any recipes they can share?
Also, could you share what you put in your salads? I'm looking for some new options

Re: Does anyone make their own salad dressing?
Mine is olive oil, salt, pepper, onion powder and either red wine vinegar or balsamic vinegar.
I like chick peas or kidney beans in my salad.

Re: Does anyone make their own salad dressing?
I put a little dijon mustard and then mix in with either balsamic or red wine vinegar. Then slowly stream in olive oil. The mustard will help the dressing emulsify.
I HATE mustard, but you can't taste it in the dressing.
Then add whatever herbs you like (I do Italian Seasoning), and salt and pepper.
YUM!!
Lately I have been putting in sundried tomatoes, artichoke hearts, chick peas.. sometimes sunflower seeds, craisins, and blue cheese crumbles.

Re: Does anyone make their own salad dressing?
My favorite is to put 2.5 parts olive oil to 1 part red wine vinegar in my mini prep. Add a few cloves of garlic and a LOT of fresh basil. Add a dollop of dijon and let it rip. Then salt and pepper to taste.

Re: Does anyone make their own salad dressing?
yes...
this is my go-to recipe- sometimes I add a little sugar
2 tablespoons sherry vinegar 1/2 tablespoon minced shallot 1/2 tablespoon Dijon mustard 1/3 cup extra-virgin olive oil Salt and freshly ground pepper In a small bowl, whisk the sherry vinegar with the shallot and Dijon mustard. In a thin, steady stream, whisk in the olive oil until emulsified. Season with salt and pepper. NOTES Herb Vinaigrette Add 1/4 teaspoon chopped thyme and 1/2 teaspoon chopped tarragon. Lemon Vinaigrette Substitute 1 1/2 tablespoons lemon juice for the vinegar and add 1/4 teaspoon grated lemon zest.

Re: Does anyone make their own salad dressing?
My quick go to summer dressing is:
Chopped garlic EVOO 1 Lemon zest and juice Apple sauce S&P
I put it all in food processor and its done!
It is very easy but SO delicious, we put it on our chopped walforf salad and make wraps. If I have scallions or chives or red onions I will add that too.

lemon zest and juice, salt and pepper, whatever dried herb you like, and extra virgin olive oil. Sometimes I add whole grain mustard or dijon mustard but not usually.

Re: Does anyone make their own salad dressing?
I like a dijon vinagrette and I don't really measure...I kind of wing it...
2 tbsp or so of dijion white vinegar a little fresh minced garlic a little fresh parsley
I wisk it and stream in EVOO while whisking. At this point I put in a little kosher salt and cracked black pepper.
If it's a little too vinegary, I put in a dash of honey.

Re: Does anyone make their own salad dressing?
copying and pasting from an old thread.
here's what we love. i'll give you "our" names for them (i name everything so DH knows how to request a certain meal! haha)
"SoCal Salad"
mixed greens sliced granny smith apple candied walnuts sprinkle of goat cheese dried cranberries halved red seedless grapes + or - chicken
with raspberry walnut vinaigrette (store bought)
"Chipotle Chicken Salad"
crunchy romaine roasted corn grilled chicken pico de gallo sliced avocado cotija cheese
with chipotle lime vinaigrette (combine 1 minced chipotle pepper from can of chipotle in adobo, juice of 1 lime, chopped cilantro, salt, pepper, garlic powder, a bit of sugar and some cumin. Then whisk in EVOO until it comes together. I actually split it in half and marinate the chicken with 1/2 and use 1/2 for the dressing)
(variation)
"Southwestern Grilled Chicken Salad"

"Side salad"
mixed greens wedges of roma romatoes sliced english cucumbers shaved fresh parmesan
with balsamic vinaigrette
"Special salad"
romaine cucumber tomato bocconcini slices of provolone & soppressata (stack them together, alternating each, then slice into thin strips)
with oil & vinegar
"Grilled veggie salad" - variation on Giada recipe
romaine butter lettuce tomato grilled corn grilled zucchini grilled shrimp, chopped cubed avocado
with agave citrus vinaigrette (equal parts lemon juice and EVOO with some agave, salt & pepper)

Re: Does anyone make their own salad dressing?
My Basic dressing is:
Olive Oil apple Cider vinegar Lemon juice salt pepper garlic powder
depending on what's in the salad- I'll add other seasonings or change the vinegar to red or white balsamic, red wine, or white.
Some things I add in when/if I have them or am in the mood:
olives beets avocado mango madarin oranges sliced peaches/apples giardinara veggies sliced coldcuts roasted peppers different cheeses sun dried tomatoes
I don't like A LOT of fruit in my salad, but if I just add one I still like it. so, I'll add sliced peaches to a regular lettuce, cucumber, olive salad and use balsamic vingar bc the peaches soak up the flavor and it's delish!
