Does anyone live upstate?
DH and I are considering moving to New Paltz and I just wanted to see if there is anyone on here that lives up there.
Thanks!

Re: Does anyone live upstate?
Thanks so much! DH's parents live up there and we go there about once a month. I love it and I feel very free and safe up there.
We found a house that we are in love with. It's our dream house with even a work studio for me (which I've never had before). I'm just nervous I guess about making such a big change (we live in Queens now), how the schools are (we are TTC), if there are people up there that are our age that we will make friends with (31).
Thanks so much for the answers!

Re: Does anyone live upstate?
I grew up in Poughkeepsie, about 1/2 hour from New Paltz. You're probably familiar with the area from visiting DH's parents, but New Paltz is very hippy/crunchy (not a bad thing!). In general that side of the Hudson River is less affluent than the other side, but everywhere has pockets of good and bad. The winters are much worse than LI or Queens, but you probably know about that. It's very different than here. The first day of hunting season all of the guys in the high school took off to go hunting. It definitely is more country.
