does anyone know whats going on with flags on the LIE overpasses?
We are driving west on the LIE and like about 3 or 4 overpasses they had firetruck ladders extended holding the American flag. Its going on around exit 43.

I think the Funeral for the NYPD Solider killed in Iraq was today...it may have been for that.
I know for Jimmy, the 1st NYPD officer killed in Iraq; they shut down Middle Country Rd in Centereach and brought out all the fire trucks and police cars for the funeral procession

oh thanks for posting this i didn't know what was going on either, it was very touching!
there was also about 20 parked police cars on the side of the LIE today. i believe they were waiting for the procession and then heading to pinelawn.
