Does anyone have that "One" house on
Their block that they wish was not there?
My neighbors really maintain their houses, but there is one house on my block that I just wish was not there or at least the people would wake up and do something with it. It's a complete eye sore!
Am I the only one here?

OH YEAH!
My Brother just moved back from FL and is staying with us until he finds something, he loves the area and wants to buy in it, but first thing he says "What is with that house down the block" . I know everyone is not financially in a position to do certain things, but at least cut the bushes and grass

we bought that house too. We are doing our best to make it look nice, but after i lost my job, cash flow was restricted therefore we can't do as much as we would like.

Re: Does anyone have that "One" house on
we bought that "One" house on the block. And what a difference we made so far. Our neighbors love us for it. BUT......we do have this one house that is now the eye sore of the block and it's right across the street from our house. They just don't maintain the outside of their house. They don't cut the lawn for weeks and then when they cut it they use a weed wacker. Yup you heard me correct a weed wacker. Sometimes their lawn mower doesn't work for them. And the weeds in the backyard just continue to grow and they don't really cut them. The house it self is just gross looking. New siding or at least paint the old shingles, new roof is needed, new windows, their blinds are always lopsided (sp), etc. Maybe they will sell their house soon.

There's a few around my area, but one in particular that was so bad (and for sale) that I posted here about it and considered complaining to the town.
In the year since, it was purchased by the landscaping company across the street from it and it looks a heck of a lot better. Although it's not as pretty as a regular residential home, it's tons better than it used to be.

Re: Does anyone have that "One" house on
Unfortunately that house is our neighbors. It isn't so bad the actual house--it could use a little help but it isn't horrible. On the other hand they do not mow their lawn, take in their garbage cans for days, the side of their house (luckily not our side) has garbage all over the place, like the raccoons get to their garbage cans & they don't clean it up. Their backyard has a boat in it that hasn't moved in the past three years and has a registration from 1997 so I am sure it hasn't moved in 12 years. We bought our house in the winter so these were all things we didn't see when we bought. We plan to put up a fence in our front yard to block them and just pray every day they sell. It doesn't help that the husband is bipolar either (something we found out after we bought).

yep..the one next to us..it is so overgrown and not taken care of the backyard..luckily you cant see it too much because the side fence has trees/leaves covering the fence, but we will be putting up a wood fence in the near future .

Yes!! I believe that the woman rents the house so it's not really her fault, but the landlord should be handling the upkeep. It's right on the corner and makes me cringe every time I pass.

Re: Does anyone have that "One" house on
We are that house on our block.
Everyone else has beautifully maintained yards and houses, and we just moved in three months ago and are trying to get our house up to speed as quickly as possible! The sweet old lady who lived there before us hadn't done much beyond have her nephews mow the lawn and keep the overgrown hedges the same overgrown height!
We're going to start ripping stuff out soon though so hopefully our neighbors will be happy!

Re: Does anyone have that "One" house on
Yup! There is a house that was purchased a few years ago by a family that insisted on putting pink brick up and making some sort of wall??
Anyways, they used to try and mow the lawn w a weed wacker at 10:30pm but now the house is in foreclosure and the family has abandoned it.
We have made calls to the Town about citing them for their 10 foot tall lawn, but so far nada.
Its a shame really bc all the houses on our block are gorgeous.

Yup and it's directly across the street from us. I don't mind too much, the people that live their are nice.
ETA - our house was the "one" We are still working on the lawn, but it's not as bad as it once was.

Yes the house next door to us has been abandoned for the last 4 years. It looks disgusting.
