Does anyone have a fear of Postpartum depression???
A friend of mine went through this after her first pregnancy. Is there anything you can do to lower your risks & try to prevent this??

Re: Does anyone have a fear of Postpartum depression???
I sufferred through PPD for quite a while. I don't think there is anything you can do to ward it off. My only advice is to ask for help if baby blues do not go away after 2-3 weeks. That was my mistake. I waited WAY too long to talk to my doctor. Now, thankfully, 9 months later, I'm finally starting to enjoy my new life as a mommy much more! Please ladies, talk to your doctor if you need to. Do not wait. I wasted so much precious time with my son by not appreciating the great gift I was given.....

Re: Does anyone have a fear of Postpartum depression???
I am pretty worried about it because I am afraid that I am a good candidate. DH is not the most supportive with stuff like that and was actually terrible when I was a bit hormonal early on, so I am nervous about handling PPD on my own. Maybe more worried about that than actual delivery.

Re: Does anyone have a fear of Postpartum depression???
I totally was afraid of PPD but I only had major baby blues for about 2 weeks. I talked about it with my doctor and she assured me that how i was feeling was completely normal. I felt a lot better after that and then it went away.
If you do get it, please ask for help!

Re: Does anyone have a fear of Postpartum depression???
I have this horrible feeling that I am going to have it pretty bad. My mom did, and both of my brothers suffer from depression, I am the only one so far who doesnt....I just keep telling dh about my fears, and continue to ask him to be supportive, and ask him to just deal with me for the first few weeks. Mom is coming to help with the baby , shes coming a week before im due, and staying as long as we feel she is needed, so it helps make me feel a little better knowing that we will be prepared.

Re: Does anyone have a fear of Postpartum depression???
i had this fear too....and while i didn't have full blown PPD i definitely had extended baby blues. i had them for more than the normal 2 weeks. it did finally subside after a month or 2. i just felt upside down since every single detail in my life changed with the birth of my DD. i talked to my mom, DH, and even my DR. about it. if you feel anything just talk to someone-there are so many things they can do to treat PPD these days.

Re: Does anyone have a fear of Postpartum depression???
I actually haven't even thought about it. I'm so in the moment of the pregnancy PPD hasn't crossed my mind.
So far hormonal I've been pretty balanced and I haven't had a history personally or family related of depression so I hope this isn't something I will experience.

Yes. I worry because even now I often get depressed and have posted about my concerns about not enjoying pregnancy like other ladies do.
I really hope I can get through it.

Re: Does anyone have a fear of Postpartum depression???
I am terrified of it. Pregnancy is the best thing to ever happen to my hormones. I have never been more hormonally balanced. I'm alwasy happy, or at the very least calm and unable to be rattled. Right before getting pregnant, I self diagnosed PMDD. My hormones were making me crazy. It's a miracle DH and I got along long enough to conceive. I don't want that crazy brain back...

Re: Does anyone have a fear of Postpartum depression???
I do- especially since I have had depression symptoms a lot during pregnancy. DH is not very understanding and takes it very personally. I don't have a history of depression personally, but my brother does. Not sure if these will be factors.
I appreciate the advice of the PP who advised to seek help sooner rather than later.

Re: Does anyone have a fear of Postpartum depression???
I had PPD really bad after DD#1, so my Dr. said I can go on meds right after delivery if I want. My words of advice to you all is, Do not wait if you are feeling depressed and anxious for more than a few weeks. I waited months to say anything because I was embarrassed. I suffered so bad for so long for no good reason. I did not enjoy my new baby and was awful to DH. Just be aware. It is fixable!
