Does anyone have a deep fryer?
What kind do you have? How often do you find yourself using it? What do you make with it? How messy is it?
Thanks!

We have a cuisinart one, this one:
We use it maybe once or twice a month. We use it for french fries, sweet potato fries most often, but have made:

Do you like this one? I've been eyeing this one. Is it easy to use and clean? I really want one, but no room to store it.

I have this one too. I hardly ever use it. I did make shrimp in it a few times and calamari and it came out pretty good

Re: Does anyone have a deep fryer?
We have some cheap one from Target. DH uses it during football season to make wings. It's actually less messy that I thought it would be. After he's done, I just pour the oil back into the same container that it came from. It's pretty easy to wash after that.
The wings are fabulous and are worth the mess!

Re: Does anyone have a deep fryer?
I have one. I used it maybe 2 times in the.. i dunno 8 years or so .. that I've had it.
It wasn't particuarly messy - BUT it uses a TON of oil (obviously) which makes it both unhealthy and kinda cost prohibitive unless you are cooking a TON of fried goodies at once.
I'll be honest.. my pan fried chicken is way better than the deep fried one. I prefer oven baked fries also. I just don't dig the boiled in fat thing.
I actually haven't pulled it out in forever. When my friends fry things at parties (wings/veggies/etc..) they use the Turkey Fryer!

Re: Does anyone have a deep fryer?
We have one. DH was dying for one, so my uncle got it for us last Christmas. We used it for our New Year's Eve party and a few other get togethers. It's a Cuisineart, but bigger than the one shown. We made fries, wings, onion rings, shrimp, oh an zeppoli! it was good, not messy and very easy/quick if you ask me. We don't use it too often, but if you can find one for a good price and have somewhere to store it, I think it's a good idea to have one.

Re: Does anyone have a deep fryer?
i got it for my shower 2 years ago and used it once. I have the cuisinart one also. I made fried calamari in it as well. I had guests over and forgot to shut the oil off, all the windows were closed.. GUESS WHAT.. the oil burned off, all of my guests had red, itchy eyes. and worst of all my house stunk for like 2 weeks. All my clothes had to be rewashed, everything in my clostes had to be washed, curtains. BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN USING IT.

This is pretty much how ours is used (I don't recall the brand but it was a cheapy I think) and we've had it for many years.
