Does any havea simple solution to an intermittent blue screen of death?
I've already run Avast anti virus and Malaware. DH just downloaded Avast could that cause it?

BSOD can be a hardware problem as well...
it depends on the error code receive and what is going on with the system like what are you doing when it happens, etc...

you should be able to restore to an earlier date if in fact it is a software issue or a virus without a CD.
Go to:
Help and Support
Then: System Maintenance
Then: Backup and Restore
Then: Create a restore point
and follow the instructions from there to restore your computer to an earlier date, pick a date PRIOR to you having the BSOD.
