Doctor Vent
I really need to vent right now about my obgyn doctor. I'm 30 weeks and went to my appointment today. I didn't gain any weight in two weeks. My doctor said if I don't gain any weight in the next two weeks he wants me to go see a nutritionist. Mind you two weeks ago he told me gaining 6 pounds in three weeks was borderline. So I watched what I ate for two weeks and didn't overeat when I knew I really wasn't hungry. Now its bad that I didn't gain any weight????
Thats the first thing. Second thing was two weeks ago baby girl was breech and doctor said hopefully she turns. I told him she had(s) plenty of time to turn. Fast forward to today, baby girl is no longer breech and is in the correct ready position, mind you she has 10 weeks before I'm due. I told the doctor "See I told you she would eventually flip", he goes "Hopefully she stays that way". Why can't doctors ever be positive?
Third thing was, when I first met with him when I was I guess 11 weeks, I told him I wanted to deliver in Winthrop, he said he only had privilege and recommended LIJ. I agreed. Fast forward to two weeks ago, he informs me that his privilege for LIJ is pending. So I thought about it and decided I want Winthrop. I told him this today and he tried to talk me into delivering at LIJ or South Nassau. I explained I've always wanted Winthrop plus my baby's pediatrician has privilege at Winthrop. He proceeds to tell me that I have 10 weeks to discuss this. Clearly, he thinks I'm going to change my mind, he's mistaken! I informed him that there is no guarantee of him being in the delivery room if I did deliver at his choice hospital. When I go back in two weeks I'm going to make it clear that I choose Winthrop and am not going to change my mind.
Sorry this was so long! Does anyone else have issues with their doctor? Its too late for me to change doctors. I just find him to not be able to talk to his patients in a positive way!

Re: Doctor Vent
If the Dr does not have privileges to deliver at Winthrop there is really nothing in his power he can do to deliver you there as his patient. It seems you weren't happy with him anyways and I do not think it is too late to switch.
There are lots of excellent Drs that deliver at Winthrop. I would do a search on this site for Drs that deliver there. I like Dolisi/Hanauer but I don't know if they are accepting new patients.
Good Luck!

He has privilege to deliver at Winthrop. He just seems to be against me going there because he's normally at South Nassau most of the time.
