Doctor question

Hi Everyone,

The doctor I go to has two midwives and two doctors. When I asked who will deliver my baby in the future they told me it could be anyone of the four. I will see both midwives and both doctors throughout my entire pregnancy so I will know them all.

My question is are midwives allowed to deliver the babies?

If they are did anyone have a midwife deliver one of their babies?

I am trying to educate myself on this matter so TIA.

Re: Doctor question

I am definitely no expert here, but from what I have heard, I do believe midwives deliver babies. There are women who choose to have their babies at home and a midwife will deliver it for them at their house (barring no complications).

Good luck to you!!!!

Re: Doctor question

Yes, a midwife can deliver your baby.

The difference between using a midwife and using an OB are that a midwife will be with you throughout your ENTIRE labor and delivery and recovery. An OB will basically pop in and out to check on you and will be there to "catch" the baby once he/she is born.

A midwife cannot perform a c-section.

Re: Doctor question

midwives also do not have privelages at every hospital. i used to go to a different doctors office and the doctors practiced out of multiple hospitals while the midwives could only deliver at certain ones.

Re: Doctor question

Not pregnant yet but planning I was hoping to use a midwife since they believe in more natural ways. Who do you see?
