Doctor called with my blood work results- a few questions!
I have my NT scan tomorrow but the doctor called to go over the results of the blood work (which I had done a week and a half ago).
They told me I was a carrier for CF (which I knew already). DH has already been tested and is not a carrier. They still want me to go to genetic counseling. Is this really necessary? She said it was part of the protocol. But if DH isn't a carrier isn't there a 0% chance the baby will have CF?
I have a vitamin d deficiency so I know I was told I have to take a vitamin d supplement. When I go tomorrow I am going to find out which one to get.
I also found out I am not immune to varicella. I never had the chicken pox but I got the vaccine when I was younger. Shouldn't the vaccine immunize me? Do I get the vaccine again?
I couldnt' really ask too many questions b/c I was at work and had a class to get to. I figured I would find everything out tomorrow. But the vitamin d thing and varicella aren't super serious, right? If those are the only major things I should be good? I could use some relief!

I think you're right about CF...once I tested negative they didn't even test DH b/c it wouldn't matter.
I found out I was not immune to measles of all things, even though I got vaccinated long ago. My Dr just said to be careful around little kids if one has a rash or something since a lot of them are not vaccinated nowadays. I would think the same for chicken pox.
I think you'll be fine!

The D deficiency i can only speak about. My endocrinologist was very concerned about it because it effects your calcium. She has me on 3000 units of D. They would just need to do a blood test and monitor to make sure you have enough D in your system. You can get over the counter d supplements but wait until your dr tells you how much to take.
I also heard that D deficiency can cause mood swings.

The varicella vaccine is not as effective as having the chicken pox. Many times you will need a booster but you cannot get it while pregnant bc it's a live vaccine.

I can't comment on chicken pox vaccine since I got the actual virus, but vaccinations many of us got as kids expired already.

Thanks for the input!!
I wish I had known about the vaccine- I would have gotten it before I got pregnant! The chicken pox virus isn't as common though now, so there really isn't a huge chance of catching it?

When I was pg with my ds I found out that I wasn't immune to varicella, despite having it when I was little. I was just told to let the doctor know if I came into contact with anyone with it, especially since I worked in a school. I was advised to get the vaccine when I wasn't pg and then had to wait a few months after if I wanted to ttc.
