Do your friends make all the decisions?
Granted DH and I are bad at initiating plans, but we're getting better. We have one group of friends though that always pick the place, when we go, etc. and any suggestion we have is shot down. It just gets annoying at times and I start to feel like followers. I don't want to make a big deal of it and we have fun, but still its annoying.

the girls in our "group" of couples usually plan whatever we want to do, and we run it by he guys, who usually don't care and we go with it...sometimes I will plan something and ask others to come along, and they will do the same... it varies..Maybe, next time you want to do something, plan it-make reservations/offer to have a gtg at the house and go out after-mention something cool going on-a concert/beach/fair/something... and ask your friends to join you. I bet they would be happy to not have to do the planning and just go out and enjoy!

So DH calls our friends and invite them to dinner this weekend at a restaurant I've been wanting to try for ages - the response "Not sure, but how about this other restaurant?" Um - no, I want to choose the restaurant for once! Anyone else deal with this?

that's not cool at all especially since you say you always do what they want to do--- what does "not sure mean"
to me it means, not sure If I am able to go out, let me get back to you... NOT, not sure if I like that restaurant, how about this one.
I would stick to your guns and go to the restaurant you want to go to...and if they join you, great, if not, meet up after somewhere and then RAVE about the restaurant!

I know someone that used to do that all the time - it's really annoying.
I would stick to your guns -- "DH & I are going to xyz and we would love for you to join us there" when they suggest something else, I would say that's ok, we are still going to xyz but have fun at where ever and we'll gtg soon.
