Do your cats walk on your kitchen table?
I've had cats all my life so I know that they do what they want, but the one I have now is too much. Yesterday I was making chicken cordon blue and left the extra ham on the table and went to put the chicken in the oven and when I turned around the cat was eating the ham. (so much for left over ham sandwiches).
PS-This cat is a senior. He is 10, but has the energy of a kitten.

My Max used to do that all the time.
I'm getting 2 more kittens this week and I am going to get a spray bottle to teach them not to.
K.C is too fat to jump anywhere..so no worries about that.

No, when he was little, we would shake a can of pennies or squirt him with water when he jumped on the table or countertop...he just learned not to go on those two places. He's allowed to go anywhere else - except outside! My mother's cats do though, I find it sort of gross cuz there's cat hair everywhere.

Yes, and they walk on my counters - I hate it and I always shoo them off. Every day I spray with antibacterial Fantastic.

Yeah only the tan one jumps on the kitchen table since he's smaller. The big guy goes on there once in a while if there is a chair next the table. Since I didn't get them as kittens, its hard to train them now.

That is great that you trained him so well. BTW, he is gorgeous. Both of your animals are.

Yeah. Gunnar recently started jumping up on the counters....but he's going the be 18 in a few months, so I don't have the heart to do anything to keep him off, other than pick him up and put him on the floor. I don't want to scare him, have him fall and break a hip or anything! Our other cat, Scout, is only 3, and she rarely does it. She knows better. Because she's perfect.

The spray bottle works really well. As soon as she see's it she knows she has to get down. She really doesn't jump on the counter anymore. She jumps on the table from time to time to "sunbathe". Definately not as much as before.
Its taking some time for her because she's an estimated 7 years old and we just got her this year.

Re: Do your cats walk on your kitchen table?
since my cat was a kitten we always repremanded her for going on the kitchen counters and tables. So she doesnt - when we are around. I am sure she is up there when we are not home. I have caught her in the sink sometimes but she jumps down as soon as i go in the room.
eta - just in case though I always cover anything she might like witha paper towel if i am leaving it out

Re: Do your cats walk on your kitchen table?
Yes, we tried the shaking can thing when we caught them, and it seems to be less often, but I am sure they are doing it when we are not around because there are paw prints on the table! Our boy cat will also steal food off the counters if we leave it out. One time I was cutting up chicken and I went over to the sink and when I turned around he was eating the raw chicken. Another time we were eating and when we went back into the kitchen he had an entire (cooked) chicken cutlet hanging from his mouth. The other day he was lounging on the counter - just laying there!! He is a troublemaker that one.

Lauren - the vision of Ramsey with the chicken has me laughing. One of his brothers is a fatty just like him.

Same for us. Nugget still attempts it sometimes, but he always knows he's doing something wrong. If I so much as walk toward the spray bottle, he's outta there!
