do you wash fruit?
Like strawberries and bluebuerries? I even wash the skin of watermelon and other melons. So many people don't. I'm always going to wash everything b/c i'm just that way...but i'm curious if I'm in the minority here.

Re: do you wash fruit?
Definitely!! Especially strawberries, often there are little gross white bugs that you can barely see around the leaf & stem area
I am very paranoid about worms & bugs.. and with apples, etc.. I picture everyone's germy hands that touched it before I did in the store.

Re: do you wash fruit?
That's so funny I feel the same. I was watching anne burrell on foodnetwork and she didn't wash her strawberries and I don't get it. I always notice the food chefs don't wash their berries in particular they come straight out of the package.

Yes, I wash fruits and vegetables. Including the pre-packaged salads that say triple washed.

Re: do you wash fruit?
Absolutely!!! The only one I don't wash is a banana.
I wash everything before I cut into it because you never know who touched it in the store and I don't want germs being cut into the food. I'm paranoid though.

Re: do you wash fruit?
Yes I definitely do. I soak them in cold water and spin them around in it and I have a brush with a hard side and a soft side for soft fruits.
And my vegetables such as cucumbers and zuchinnis I actually wash the skin with antibacterial soap (might sound weird but who knows who's grabbing them)

Re: do you wash fruit?
I wash everything with an organic fruit/veggie wash. I am totally grossed out by people touching my food and then eating it.

Re: do you wash fruit?
If I peel the fruit (bananas, oranges, watermelon) I do not wash it.
If it is more delicate and I eat it the way it is (blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, grapes) I just rinse it a few times in water.
If it is a sturdier fruit and I want to eat it with the skin (apples, pears, plums, peaches) I scrub it a little while washing it.

Re: do you wash fruit?
I always wash fruits and vegetables before eating them or cooking with them. Think of all the hands that touch them from the time they're picked and at the supermarket. I didn't always wash fruits that have to be peeled, like melons and oranges, but then I learned that is a good idea to because when u cut them open, any germs or bacteria on the outside can get pushed into the part you eat by the knife. It's definitely worth the minute it takes to wash before eating.

I use the same wash, i never use just water. Even if i peel the fruit/veggie i still wash it before peeling.
