Do you think you can take too much Vitamin C?
Do you think you can take too much vitamin C?
I just took 2 chewable 500 mg vitamin C supplements. I am also going to take a multi vitamin which contains vitamin C this afternoon (trying to get over being sick).
What do you think? Is that too much? Can I take more vitamin C later with dinner?

No, it is a water soluble vitamin. From what I have been told it is nearly impossible to OD on Vit C.
ETA: If you want to help boost your immunity also take Golden Seal root w/ Echinacea.

Yes you can take to much of anything. You can even drink too much water. I don't know what the max amount you can take is, but you could probably ask the pharmacist.

too many of any supplement can be detrimental. However, what you described sounds moderate and ok.
Vit C can build up in your kidneys.

i dont take vitamin c pills but i have at least 3 clementines a day so i hope i dont OD!

nah, food absorption is different than supplements.

The USRDA for Vitamin C is 2000 mg. An average orange has about 80mg. ODing can cause intestinal problems, however. (stomach aches, diarhea, etc) No major side effects, though.

Also too much Vitamin C over the course of time can cause kidney stones.
(My mom is a nurse at a urologist's office!)

Several recent studies have shown that to not be true.
Still, you don't really want to OD on any vitamins or minerals.
