Re: Do you think this is right?

a 50 anniv party and a wedding are two different parties so the music will be different. as long as u and fh likes the dj, that's all that counts

Re: Do you think this is right?

I think tha lack of dancing had more to do with the fact that more than 1/2 of the people were age 70 plus.

My IL's are 70 and so are two sets of my aunts and uncles and many of my Dad's friends and other family. When we got married last summer we had 94 people but more than 1/2 were over 50... Many people only danced to a couple of songs and most of the hard core dancing was only done by a small group of my younger friends.

Even some in their 40's were taking "breathers".

An anniversary party is different from the typical wedding were usually more than 1/2 the party is under 30.

Re: Do you think this is right?

An anniversary party is definatly different then a wedding. You're using the same DJ I used and every single person at our wedding danced. Our wedding video all you see is people dancing. Even the priest was up dancing all night.

Dont let them get to you. Plus it's all nerves. I cant tell you how many times I questioned things when it was getting so close. Even days before the wedding I kept questioning things.

Re: Do you think this is right?

That is annoying and rude!!!! AND - I'm sure that the DJ wasn't going to play club music when there were much older people at the party. HE was playing for his crowd. If they wanted him to play specific songs then they should have specified that to him before the party.

Re: Do you think this is right?

At your wedding when your DJ rocks the night away, turn to your MIL and say "Well look - he WAS better for our wedding"!

Re: Do you think this is right? UPDATE!

I think the fact that the DJ is aware of the type of crowd he is playing for and chooses the music appropriately is a sign of a great DJ! If that party was with my family and this guy started playing booty shakin' music all night, someone would have a talk with him. Dont listen to her, she is probably jealous.

I am so glad that your FH said something J. Your dj is going to do a great job at your wedding. Just ignore your FSIL. Chat Icon

Re: Do you think this is right? UPDATE!

OMG I just saw this thread Chat Icon Chat Icon I have no words for your FSIL, Jeanine Chat Icon

I can assure you of one thing - your FSIL will be eating her words after she attends your wedding and everyone is partying their azzes off because your DJ is gonna rock the house.. (I can FIRMLY attest to this, since I used the same DJ and people STILL tell me how awesome he was - and this is nearly 2 years later!! Chat Icon)

PLUS as for the age thing... well my wedding consisted of maybe 75% older folks and 25% people my age and younger... and EVERYONE danced their butts off.. we played a wide variety of stuff (left the younger dance music for later in the evening) and I seriously never saw the dance floor empty at any time..be it oldy music, Greek/Italian music, slow dances, dance music.. there was something for everyone..

Anyhow - in the end, I'm sooo glad your FH said something to her and shut her up! But please dont let it bother you for a second longer - your wedding is gonna be fab-u Chat Icon
