Do you think this is ok?
I am planning a surprise 30th for DH. I decided I am going to have it at a bar in RVC where he and his friends always hang out. I am going to do it at night from around 7 on when the bar is open for regular business. It is going to be open bar, but I was thinking of only having bar food like chicken wings, potato skins, mozzarella stick, the usual, being it was so late and it was at a bar. Do you think that is ok or do you think I have to have a full buffet? I just know that when DH and his friends drink they dont want ziti and that kind of food, they want the normal bar food. I kind of think it would be a waste.

If it's at 7, I think bar food is fine, it's not dinner time so people won't expect to be getting a full meal anyway.

I think that is totally fine. But I would note it on the invitation so people don't come expecting dinner. Something like "Please Join Us for Cocktails and HorsD'oeuvres in Celebration of ...."
