Do you think it's necessary for DC to have vitamins?
Esp while on formula. I just feel that sometimes vitamins can be an overload and that there is enough in Andrews formula and food.
Does anyone else feel this way? Andrew is 9 months and the ped gave us prescription months ago but I have yet to fill it.

My doc said to use them so I do. I chose to trust my doc, you do what you feel is right.

I agree with the above poster, I trust my doc and he prescribed the vitamin at 6 months so I give them to DS.

Re: Do you think it's necessary for DC to have vitamins?
My doctor never prescribed vitamins. I am actually a pharanmacist here in CO and have not fill one RX for vitamins. I definitely think you can overload. Breastmilk and formula have a lot of vitamins. Only now at 18 months I am trying to get DD to take some kind of vitamin because she eat no vegeatables and drinks hardly any milk. Lots of luck finding one she'll take.

Ditto, and I tend to agree that she gets enough from her formula and food.

Re: Do you think it's necessary for DC to have vitamins?
I've been giving them since 6 months old. My ped said to do it, so i did. He also stopped formula at 9 months, and hardly eats any veggies now, so more than ever i think they're important now. Do what you feel is best for your DC.

Re: Do you think it's necessary for DC to have vitamins?
I think once they are off formula and/or breast milk they should have vitamins. Most kids, but not all, tend to go through "picky" stages of eating and I think the vitamins just help to balance things out. Also my ped. said DD needs the flouride in the vitamins.

DD is 10.5 months old and is not on Vitamins for the exact reason you stated above. Our ped won't even give a prescription for it. The formula has all the vitamins they need right now.

Thank you all so much. After really thinking about it I am going to hold off for a little while.
