Do you think dealing with IF

has made you more cautious regarding announcing your pregnancy? DH and I were discussing how and when we'll tell others when we finally get our BFP. I think that because of all we have been through in order to conceive, I would wait a while.

Thoughts?

I agree, which is why I tend to not post too much about where I am in the process. I will announce my BFP when I feel it's "safe" to announce.

My family has no idea we are TTC but for some reason I feel fine posting on here.... I probably should be more careful but I have too many questions!

Re: Do you think dealing with IF

I think it makes us more aware of the fragility of pregnancy and of the "what ifs." Face it, we know more about our bodies and our reproductive systems than most women who just take getting pregnant for granted.

Re: Do you think dealing with IF

I used to post here about my cycles and tell everyone the outcomes, but after so many chemicals and miscarriages, I've decided not to even bother. I'll post the announcement when I'm 12 weeks, someday.

I'm now just here to support others and provide any info I know.

Re: Do you think dealing with IF

Eleventy billion percent.

However, I am culturally superstitious person regardless and would not have announced a pregnancy in a public forum such as this one until about 12 weeks regardless of if I had IF issues or not. I dont care how much badgering I got and frankly, I learned my lesson both online and with family and friends.

People are naturally inquisitive and supportive and I know in my non-online life, some even feel entitled to know whats going on between my legs. I wasn't posting here until I was ready for the entire world to know as the entire world has a computer.

Hey there, def wait. We were so exicited when I got my bfp at 5 weeks. My DH told his family, his nephew was there, grabs his mothers cell phone and calls his entire extended family. 5 days later i had m/c. It was awful. It's very hard to keep quiet. With everyone knowing what you are doing ART, they'll ask, but how do you not tell them?

Both of our families know we are doing IVF. When we told them, we said, this is what has been happening, this is what we are doing now. We are letting you know so that we have the extra support since IVF is a big deal, but we don't want anyone walking on eggshells around us. If you have questions about the process itself, we are more than happy to answer them, but we will share news when we have something to share. So far both families have respected this.

Me too-I never really announced on here after my 1st 2 losses because it's just depressing. I will wait for 12 or 13 weeks

I am definitely waiting to tell our parents. I will probably only tell my bf when it happens.

I will probably tell everyone right away--I'm sure that could come back to bite me, but I guess I'll be taking my chances on that one.

This is exactly what we did. We wanted all the prayers we could get. Also, we didn't want people to hear we were pregnant when it was, God forbid, bad news.

Re: Do you think dealing with IF

After my first mc, I waited until I was 12 weeks with the twins before I announced it! I was careful to not be around friends so that I wasn't tempted. They didn't even know that I was going through another cycle! In fact, We all went to the Barry Manilow concert the day of my retrevial (talk about being in uncomfortable!)

I can't keep secrets very well, so I'll probably spill the beans HERE as soon as I know......and tell my mother and close co-workers......If anything goes wrong, I'll need all the support I can get.....

Re: Do you think dealing with IF

Last time I got a BFP I announced it here right away, I will not do that again, it was too difficult afterwards.

I will hope that when I get the next BFP (Chat Icon to us all and be positive!) that I will be able to keep my mouth shut for awhile to my family. It is so hard, particularly with my Dad, he is always the first one I want to call.
