Do you put baby in crib facing the same direction every night?

Seems like a silly question, but I was wondering... Do you put your baby in the crib with his/her head at the same end of the crib each night?

I usually put DS in the same way, but when we have a rough night, and he's up several times, sometimes I try placing him in the opposite direction and SOMETIMES he falls asleep that way, where as he was fussing the other way... But then I wonder, if when he wakes up, he's disoriented or if he just knows he's in his crib and it doesn't matter which direction he's facing.

What do you do???

Thanks!!!

When DC were infants, it was usually the same direction, mainly because it was always more comfortable holding them with their head in our left arm, so we always put them down that way. However, if they happened to have their head in our right arm, they went down that way.

same but if I have dd's head on my right arm, I will switch her over to my left arm so I can put her down "the right way" Chat Icon

I put him down the same way every time, but every time I check on him, he facing another direction. He moves himself wherever he wants to be.

Yup! But that doesn't mean I find her facing that way in the morning! Chat Icon

Re: Do you put baby in crib facing the same direction every night?

I usually put my DD in the crib facing the same direction so I could see her well on the monitor. This caused major problems for us- DD still has lingering vision problems at 15 months because of this. My BF did the same thing with her son and he had flat head for many months. I would highly recommend switching the direction in which you lay your baby down in the crib every night. Even if they move around at night, as my DD did. Babies tend to turn their head in the direction of light- whether it is an aquarium on the side of the crib, or light from the window. I recommend to all of my friends who are having their first baby to alternate sides of the crib.

Hey there Christine!

Yes, I put Troy in his crib w/ his head the same way each night. Just started one way and stuck with it. On the other hand, DH holds him differently than I do, so he puts his head the "other" way.

same way for me. When I was a kid and couldn't sleep I would always try to turn around the other way. It never worked for me ;)
