Do you pay for garbage pick up?
And what town do you live in???
We're looking at towns and I want to take everything into account. The town we live in now - we do. I didn't even think to ask and that was one extra expess that I did not expect to have.

I'm in Town of Hempstead and we don't pay additional for garbage or recycling. We have to call special pickup for big things (furniture, mattresses, appliances, etc.)
My friend lives in Town of North Hempstead and they just put out the big stuff too, no need to call and make an appt. And she doesn't pay extra for garbage and recycling.

Thanks guys. We're looking in the Town of Hemstead. Currently I live in Putnam County and we pay $70 every two months but that adds up.

West Islip - ours is built into our taxes so nothing extra. They even give us a huge garbage can with wheels, and the garbage truck is completely automated - a big arm picks up the can, dumps it in the truck and puts it down. It's very exciting for my 21 month old to watch.
