Do you like cilantro?
I just read a NYT article that explained why some people don't like cilantro. Every time I have it, I taste the most disgusting soap taste; like the smell and taste of industrial strength soapy grill cleaner. It is disgusting and ruins meals for me.
I found the article so interesting, and now I realize there's a reason I really cannot stand the taste of it.

I love it. I didn't for a long time because it's such a strong and different taste - but my palate evidently adjusted!
My husband HATES it and is very sensitive to it. When I make green chili or pico i have to make special batches for him without cilantro!
The article is interesting.. I grew up with a father who cooked a lot of world cuisine and employed liberal use of coriander and cilantro. My 'other family' is Burmese and their cooking also involved these herbs. Maybe it was just being around them so much that made it more tolerable for me?
My sons used to hate cilantro but now my older one enjoys it and my little one tolerates it.

Nope. I can't tolerate the taste of it; what everyone else describes is NOT the way it tastes to me. I read that article awhile ago and figured I'm in that small group of people who don't process the taste like the majority of folks do.
It's weird because it's not just that I don't like it...there are some flavors that I don't particularly care for but cilantro is different. If I taste it, it just kind of ruins the meal for me and I'm ready to punch a wall or something.

I only use it in my guacamole. Just a little bit and that's it. Other than that I'm not a fan

I love it. Perhaps it is an acquired taste.. we use it liberally in everything including parsely, coriander seeds, basil.. you name it.. as a garnish, dip.. very common in my household.

It's definitely not something I grew up with and don't remember eating till I was an adult and I love it. Always wondered why people hate it so much.

I love it! It's a staple for indian cooking and one of my favorite herbs of all time. I never associated it with having a soapy taste. Interesting!

LOVE IT!!!
Its used alot in spanish food (not talking about mexican food). I use it in beans, rice, stews, you name it. I also chop it up with scallions and add it as a yummy garnish to chicken soup. I guess its an acquired taste. I'd rather use cilantro than parsley b/c I'm used to the stronger flavor so parsley doesn't taste like anything to me.
