i think there are some small instances where you dont have to. but i think they are the best way to show your professionalism.

It really depends. You should research the company to find out how casual it is. If everyone is very casual in jeans & tee and you show up in a suit, you will look like you don't fit in.

Unless it's a hippie commune I would.
Most of us (teach at a high school) never wear suits but we all did for our interviews.
When in doubt it's best to be overdressed than underdressed.
