Its something I think about but haven't yet acted on...probably once we move.

I'd put in stuff like dried/canned foods, a change of clothes for everyone in the house, emergency radio, emergency cash...more that I can't think of at the moment.

No. But I like to think that I keep my house stocked. I have plenty of flashlights, batteries, a battery-operated radio, bottled water, a lantern, etc. I know where it all is, but it's not together in one place if we ever had to flee.

We don't have a kit, but everything we would need in an emergency is in one room.

Re: Do you have an emergency kit, just incase

I was just researching this last month, because I always worry and felt that I should have this and want to have one. But the recommended list is so long, and it should all be in one place, and you have to rotate things in and out every few years since canned goods and things do go bad. So essentially I haven't done it because it is a long of work/money to prepare one considering I don't have a lot of the necessities. Here is the list i found of what should be in an emergency kit:

** always have candles on hand and through my research I found out that apparently, candles should not be in the list, as they "cause more fires after a disaster than anything else".

Ok here is the list:

Re: Do you have an emergency kit, just incase

My parents and sister each have their own...it includes much of the items Bayside's post above lists. They live in FL...hurricane country. They're already had one house destroyed from a hurricane.

But one thing I haven't seen mentioned yet is pets! Make sure to accommodate for them...water, food, leases, carrying kennels, blankets for warmth, and any prescriptions they might be on. Chat Icon

It's something I ALWAYS have on my "to do" list but never get to do.

I really need to get around to putting one together and get this OFF the list.
