Do you give your nanny a raise if you have another DC?
Our neighbor is expecting #2. She knows she will have to give her nanny a raise. Was curious how much of a raise is expected.

Yes. I read online it's "typically" an extra $1 an hour but I'm not sure if that's really what most people do.

That's all? I would think it would need to be quite substantial... at least 25%-50% more. She is doing twice the work.

I would also think about 50% increase.
An infant is a lot of work. They have a 2yo now.
Does anyone have any personal experience?

We just went through this. It's not necessarily twice the work, depending on what age the first child is. Plus, she has to be there all day anyway. We gave her a raise of $2.50 per hour. That is all we could afford, and she was happy with that.

Well, I do in home day care and I charge $65/day for up to 8hrs. If someone wanted to add another child, a newborn especially, the reality is I have to ask for more simply because I could take on another child from another family and make twice the money. Newborns are A LOT of work so I would expect to be paid a decent amount. I would probably do $65/day for the one child and no less than $55/day for the other child otherwise it isn't worth it. KWIM?
