Do you give the same gift card amount to all teachers?
There is one particular assistant teacher who really went out of her way to help with DS#2 adjust to preschool. DS#2 really loves this woman. I want to give her more than the other teachers (including the main teacher).
Would it be ok to give her more (maybe double or triple what I give the others)?

Do you give the same gift card amount to all teachers?
I think it's ok to give whatever you think is best.
I typically give the same amount but, last year I gave more to DS 1's head teacher because she was phenomenal. He had also been in that class for 7 months and with her the entire time, while the assistants had only been there 2-3 mos.

I think it's ok to give whatever you think is best.
I typically give the same amount but, last year I gave more to DS 1's head teacher because she was phenomenal. He had also been in that class for 7 months and with her the entire time, while the assistants had only been there 2-3 mos.
I just don't want it to backfire on DS's care if it gets around that we have one teacher so much more. Maybe I will give it to her on the side.
Do teachers talk to one another about what they got from each student?

yes they do. Last year i wanted to give some teachers more money then other but i know 2 people who use to work in the daycare and they told me they would always discuss what parents gave them for that alone i gave them all the same amount. I didnt give them a lot either cause of this. My friends also convinced me to give them less than what I planned to ... they thought i was crazy for the amount i wanted to give

Thanks for the heads up!!! I gave DS 2's teachers $5 more each than DS 1's teachers when they moved at the end of October - but, DS 2 was difficult and had been in the class longer than DS 1 so that was my justification.

i dont think there is anything wrong with rewarding a person that went out of their way. I would however, pull her aside and hand it to her and tell her that while you believe all teachers and assistants are doing a great job and you are very pleased, you think she is doing an exceptional job with transitioning your son and you would like thank her for that accordingly. i would think that the teachers share the information but i am not certain at all!

Can I hijack this post and ask what is an appropriate amount to give to the daycare/preschool teachers? We just started with daycare in September and I have NO idea what is appropriate to give? Gift Cards, cash? Amount? I know it is a personal thing, but I just am not sure what is standard!!!!!

I plan to give one of the teahcers double what I'm giving the others. I have six teachers and an OT therapist to give to. I'm also giving to the daycare owner even though I know it's not really customary, but she's gone above and beyond with DD and I feel like giving her a token of appreciation. But one of the teachers really took to DD and is just amazing, so I feel like I need to give her more. I just plan to tell her to open her gift alone and keep it on the DL.

I give more to the main teacher and less to the assistant.
So I do NOT give the same to everyone.
