Do you ever run out of hot water?
I am trying to decide if this is a real problem. It seems in the winter that we are always running out of hot water  If DH takes a shower and I give DD a bath (hours apart), when I go to take a shower there is no hot water! Is this normal? I would think not but what do I know?
Who would I call about fixing this?

Call your oil company (or gas whichever you have), you may need to have the burner serviced. It happens to us but only when I run 2 things at once, like the dishwasher and shower.

What size is your hot water heater? It might be undersized for your house and your usage.
We installed a bigger hot water heater a couple of years ago when we had to replace our hot water heater. We haven't had any problems since.

We had this problem ALL the time! We actually never had a water heater, and just a coil heating system with the burner and in the winter, if we were using the heat a lot, there was like NO hot water. Seemed as though it was heating enough since it was all going to the heat/radiators.
We actually decided to get a whole new system and one with a seperate water heater and we are SO happy with the service and system we received for a very great deal. We got it from a guy that does the work on the side and get the system at discount bulk price through his company. If you want info, FM me. We paid $5500 cash, installed and all for a top of the line digital system!

No. Because we have a tankless water heater that heats water on demand. We can take hour long showers and never run out!
With regular tank hot water heats, you only have 40 or 50 gallons of water and then it fills and needs time to reheat.

We had this issue before DH installed a hot water heater. The boiler couldn't heat up enough water for 2 showers.
Now, with the water heater, we can take 4 showers without losing hot water.
