Do you ever feel bad turning contractors away
If they give you an estimate.
The one guy we wanted to use was so busy he wasn't able to give us an estimate for about 2 weeks. Today he sent it but we've already been talking to someone else (nothing in writing) I know it's just business but now I feel bad if I don't use either if them...

Nope, never! My money, my decision who I ultimately hire. I am known to get estimates of at least 4-5 contractors in whatever project I want done; it used to drive my ex-h insane. Besides, contractors are used to it.

I think most expect that you're getting multiple estimates. I think it's only fair to let them know that you've chosen someone else though if they take the time to spend a few hours looking at the job and writing up an estimate.

You really should talk with a couple of contractors before deciding on one, so you will automatically turn down several of them. It's a part of the business, and the contractors understand that.
