Do you always lose your MP before labor?
I will be 37w tomorrow and have felt different the past few days, like I can tell the baby definitely is lower than she has been, have been getting different kind of twinges, and kind of am thinking I might be earlier rather than later. I keep checking to see if I am losing my MP, because I know that means that labor is iminent, but so far nothing. I don't know if I am dilated or not because I haven't had an internal recently, and don't know if they will even do one this week for me since they are waiting till the last minute because they tend to aggravate my polyp and cause contractions on me.
So wishful thinking maybe, but do you definitely need to lose the MP before going in to labor, or could it happen anyways?

Re: Do you always lose your MP before labor?
Based on my experience, I'd say you don't need to lose it to go into labor. I'm fairly certain I never lost mine, but I guess it could have happened without me knowing...

I did not lose mine before labor began as far as I know. I never saw or felt anything that felt like it.

Re: Do you always lose your MP before labor?
Losing the MP doesn't always mean labor is imminent. The MP can actually regenerate and I've known people to lose it and not go into labor for a week or two! Then I've known people who never lost it or saw it come out.
My water broke first and when I went to wipe after that, I saw a small piece of MP. Later at the hospital the rest of the MP came out.

Same here. I had lost some of it a few weeks beforehand but it can regenerate so my OB said not to read into it or anything. I lost it in giant chunks when labor started. Every contraction, I feel like I had to pee really, really badly and I'd go to the bathroom and huge clumps of my MP would come out when I wiped -- this went on for 3 hours straight before it became bloody and I went to the hospital -- DD was born 3 hours after that.

I did, but nobody else I know ever did. I lost mine in pieces over 3 days and then went into labor.
