Do pacifiers need to be BPA free too?
How far do we have to go with BPA free products?
Pacifiers? spoons? plates?
Do they make such products?

i think the concern is that the plastic gives off the harmful chemicals when heated, so i dont think pacifiers are a problem...

The part the baby sucks on is made of silicone or latex- so that is not a problem.
The spoons I use have a rubber tip- so THATS not problem.

BPA is ONLY in clear, hard plastic. Any bottles which are "cloudy'ish" do not contain BPA nor do pacifiers because the tip is a soft, flexible material. As someone stated, it's really only an issue when the plastic is heated so even if a spoon, or bowl, or pacifier contained BPA it would be fine unless you heated it up.

I just don't like the idea of all of this plastic!
we will use glass bottles with silicone nipples, and stainless steel baby dishes and spoon. The teething toys are organic cotton stuffed veggies... I may also get a wood teether when I'm in germany... (will only get one if it's made in the EU or USA).
For pacifiers, I chose phillips advent because it's made in the EU and the nipple is pure silicone.

I was just told the exact same info when I asked an employee at BRU. She said the bottom line is don't put anything in the microwave to heat up.

FYI, they DO make steel bowls, plates, cups, and spoons for babies...
I think it's a brilliant idea. you can shove them on the bottom shelf of the dishwasher, baby can smack or drop them, and there are no toxic chemicals.
My theory is that this year it's BPA, and 5 years from now, they'll discover yet another chemical in plastics that are toxic. Stainless is inert, so it releases nothing. That's the route we will go
